Like everyone else, I'm pleased to see some of our players back that we haven't seen for a while, I'm hoping they'll bring some freshness and exta determination into the side.

I'd take a boring 1-0 right now, but I'm obviously hoping we'll see an inspiring victory by a large margin.

Glad to see N'Gog getting the nod up front, I've been very impressed by this lad so far from what I've seen. He's got great technique, a cool head in front of goal and bags of ability and potential. Already proved that he was worth the small amount we paid for him, but I hope he'll continue to improve and show us he was a massive bargain.

Kuyt captain? Good to see Ngog given the chance infront of Voronin. I agree with some of the other posts- Riera needs to have a big game tonight. Can't wait till 8- not only are the Reds on, eating Lasagne- 'appy days :) Come on you Redmen!!!

Good thing I don't need your forgiveness mate.  Just tried to blank out the Fulham game as much as I could. ;)

Anyway, thats a good enough team to beat Birmingham.  Glad to see Riera and Johnson back, and hope N'Gog gets a goal or 3.

      Come on you reds!!! ;D

Riera hasnt played for a month so how can he just come back and be on top form. I wish people would get of players backs and just support the f***in team.
Really dissapointed as listening to Rafa Torres had improved yet he dosent play and Aquilani just on the bench so were do we get creativity from its been our Major problem all year. Just pray now for a good positive performance and we must at all costs win.

      FFS, when will people understand?

He's not fit enough to start, so to start him would be counter productive. If he gets injured now because he's straining to play more minutes, he could be out for longer which would affect our season in the long term.

To be fair I think Rafa hasnt picked Torres to stop him going away with Spain and making his injury worse!

Not a bad side, and a decent bench.

Good to see Johnson and Riera back.

FFS  whats the difference between being fit enough for the bench but not to start. He can get injured in training and miss games he will NOT get match fit playing 20 mins.
We havent got a creative midfielder playing as much as Masch and Lucas have played well there are no goals and no creativity from them. Its now mid Nov how long do we have to wait to see a £20 mil player we are in a desperate situation.

On a personal note i'm disappointed that Aquilani ain't starting. If he can't get a start in a home game against F***ing Birmingham, i'm beginning to wonder when he will. i honestly feel we shouldn't be playing two 'holding' midfielders at home to a shower of sh*te.

Phew, with that said, i still reckon we'll spank them.  ;D

Let's hope we have to game in the bag and gerrard isn't needed atall tonight.
Just noticed that Benitez is playing upfront for birmingham.. god i hope that we're not seeing that guys name in the headlines tomorrow, rather Rafa's instead for positive reasons.

      Come on redmen
I'm saying a 4-0 win with ngog scoring twice, yossi twice :)

Not too sure. Depends on how they set up.

If they set up to just sit back and play for the draw then it could be a very difficult game to play in.

An early goal will help a great deal - but if we don't get it, patience is key. The defenders need to keep their concentration too, we don't want a repeat of Fulham.

      6-0.

Agger, Leiva, Kuyt, Benayoun and N'Gog (2).

Because if you start a player that is no where near match fit and is really struggling then you would have to take him which therefore means having to use one of the 3 subs much earlier than planned, possibly before half time. Bring him on at some point in the second half then with the other team starting to tire it is unlikely to make him really struggle to keep up with the pace.
