World Player of the Year 2009

A year ago our own Fernando Torres came 3rd in this behind Ronaldo and Messi and had it not been for injuries he'd have come in the top 3 again this year.

Who do you think is going to win?

It's probably going to be Messi by a country mile like the European Player of the Year a few weeks ago. Then it should be Iniesta and Xavi.

To be honest, although Kaka is an amazing player I don't think he should be in the 5 because he hasn't done anything great this last year, if he is in it then Gerrard should be after the 2008/09 season he had.

EDIT: Gerrard is in the team of the year along with Nando.

Messi will win it. But I still don't get why Iniesta and Xavi got to the top 5. I mean Xavi created Barca's attacks last season with his amazing passing. So did Xabi for us. And I think that Gerrard was way better than Iniesta last season. And I don't even have a clue on why Kaka is in the top 5.

Iniesta had an amazing season, probably better than what Gerrard did and he ran the show in the Champions League final.

Messi is the best player in the world by miles right now, so he deserves to win it. After that, it should be Iniesta, followed by Ronaldo, Xavi then Kaka (although he shouldn't be in there in the first place).

Fully deserving, was never in doubt in my eyes. Think Gerrard should have been in the top 5, but oh well.

Yeah, mate. Even I was thinking the same thing the other day. He certainly wasn't good enough for a top 5 placed in the award. This year, better players than him deserved to be in the top 5 than him.

Steven Gerrard deserved the top 5 spot instead of Kaka.

No doubt Kaka is a class player but he just didn't play as well as Stevie.
