Inter Milan are preparing a bid for Steven Gerrard should Liverpool fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Reports today suggest that Inter boss Jose Mourinho is eager to capitalise on the Red's dreadful season by luring away their star asset.

Mourinho has been an admirer of the Anfield captain for some time, even trying to sign him when he was in charge of Chelsea. And now Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport has suggested the England man will top Inter's transfer targets in the summer.

Gerrard has become increasingly frustrated at Liverpool this season, and although he's shown commitment to his home town club in the past, failure to finish in the top four could be the final straw.

I wouldn't dismiss this so easily, Stevie has, at the end of this season, 2 or 3 good years left, we did it with others in the past, so why not Stevie G, we need money to buy, and if the right price comes along it would not surprise me one bit to see him go, The money would pay for three quality players, we need more quality desperately. If we had different owners this would never happen , but with the way things are there is always a chance that some thing like this could happen.

Fair point. But in my opinion we are already short of quality at the moment. But we need new players AND with Gerrard in the squad. Selling Gerrard and getting 2-3 quality players in return would not be worth it, because Gerrard is worth a lot.
