Marouane Chamakh (Bordeaux)

Liverpool entered the race to sign Marouane Chamakh last night and were close to an agreement for the services of Maxi Rodríguez.

Chamakh, 25, the subject of an offer from Arsenal last summer, is out of contract at Bordeaux but is free to sign a pre-contract agreement that would enable him to move at the end of this season, with Arsenal expected to renew their interest in the Morocco player.

Rodríguez, is out of contract at Atlético Madrid this summer and wants more first-team football in his bid to claim a place in the Argentina World Cup squad. The winger may be the only arrival at Anfield this month, but the £5 million transfer of Andrea Dossena to Napoli is almost certain to go through after talks on Merseyside to take the defender to Italy. Ryan Babel, the winger, is also for sale.

What would happen if United go and buy Hulk from Porto? Surely the Premier League isn't big enough for two Hulks, it would be war.

Bordeaux were French Champions last year, and 9 points clear of second place this, they are a top quality side, I dare say better than us. I would prefer us to sign Gourcuff though

Why not get both of em'?

Chamakh isn't the player that scores a lot of goals, but if he would be surrounded by 3 defenders, he would rather look for a pass rather than trying to take them all on like Nando does.

With what money mate? Doubt they will sell Gourcuff either.

As a Moroccan, I see Chamakh as a good player, yes he is not a top scorer but when he stand in the field you would expect everything from him, good in the air, caused problem for the rivals with more freekicks and booking, he moves alot with great assists.

He seems to bit a bit like Crouch with a lttle more strength and hopefully more neck muscles,
