I usually get the train there and back when I can't get a lift. It's about £13 for a return. You can either jump in a taxi outside Lime St or walk if you have enough time.

Depending on the weather, try the bus, over the road from Lime Street, 17a stops right by Anfield.

...and will have about 15000 Liverpool fans on it, so you won't miss it.

      Travel to and from game
      Afternoon all,

Sorry to bother you with what is probably a trivial question. I will be at Anfield for my 1st Liverpool game against Bolton. I've done a bit of research into getting to and from the ground. What do you all reckon is best?

      1. Public bus. I read that buses run from Queen Square and stop right outside Anfield. Is this a decent option? I assume that to get a bus from Anfield to the city centre after the game there is an opposite bus stop on other side of the road and is just a case of waiting with the crowds? What time would you suggest leaving from Queen Square at to get to game on time if buses will be busy?

      2. Soccer Bus- is this a better option? Quicker, hassle free?

      3. Walk to the ground. I understand it's about a half hour walk, is it worth following crowds before and after the game to get there and back or is this a risky option?

Apologies for going on but just want to make sure I make the most of the time I have in Liverpool.

      Thanks

Also what about boozers? Do plenty fans drink in the city before the game or best heading to a pub near the ground?

Various options mate, can take the car and park in or around the ground for anything between £5-£10.

Taxi from city centre is about £8 quid or the soccer bus is good but obviously can be a little chaotic ;)

Walk from city centre takes around an hour...just follow the sea of red.

Loads of pubs, the albert is great next to the kop but you have to get there early.

Enjoy ...and make sure you sing!!!!! ;)

What are taxi's like after the game? No chance I take it? The reason i ask that is I would get a taxi to the game but would then not know where the bus stop is after the game!

I think maybe just getting a normal public bus outside the ground is what i will do, unless anyone strongly advises me against it.

Don't worry I'll be singing. Been looking forward to this for ages!

You could always start walking back to town, taxi will come along sometime (do this quite regular if Im out in town after the game)

Other option is couple of beers in one of the pubs around the ground and get taxi later on when the crowds have cleared a bit

Thats actually a cracking shout about a few beers then a taxi. That is a new serious contender.

You havent mentioned public buses? Is this cause they are a nightmare?

Cheers, again apologies for all my basic questions

Bus service is ok, plenty pass through on the walton breck road behind the kop end but again maybe worth staying behind for a beer or two.....

...like an excuse is needed  ;D

also meant to ask can you walk right round Anfield after the game or are all the stands sectioned off into their own areas? Reason is I am sitting in Main Stand and mate is sitting in Anfield Road so just checking for meeting after the game purposes.

Is the Premier Inn, West Derby extremely close to the ground? Looks about 10 minute walk from google maps.

Certainly is. Cant wait. As you can tell by my user name I watch Falkirk in the SPL each week, so looking forward to seeing some real football players for a change ;D.

I'm thinking of staying at the hotel I've mentioned above. Is it an easy/safe walk or do you know bus numbers? Any help appreciated.

Best get a taxi mate, the hotel will book you one, take about 10 mins to get to Anfield by taxi from the Premier Inn. I've stayed there so I know, it will cost you about a fiver.

      Cool.

What about the way back? Try and get a taxi as well? I'm prepared to wait and hang around a bit after the game in a local pub or whatever to get a taxi if necessary.
