      2012...fiction or fact
      Jan 19, 2010 11:11:00 pm
Ive always shunned these stupid predictions of global disasters.
      Mayans and all that rubbish.
A former US governer has new bolts to throw in the cogs though, to do with our sun.

watch it and decide, very interesting

oh by the way does anybody belive were all going to die, like you did in 1999, that went off without a hitch.... nutters and prophesies.

Jesse Ventura Conspiracy Theory - 2012 Part 1 of 6

some good facts in this docu though, 150 years ago the biggest ever solar storm hit us, but electricity was in its very early infancy, and it didnt effect us, imagine if the whole worlds power was knocked out, some countries with nuclear arms would get their power back first and have a distinct nuclear advantage if they struck.
A whole in the magnasphere found that will let through the radiation, and the scientistific societies are addmitting that there will be unpresedented solar activity, is somebody tryint to tell us all something

If all the power goes off, one thing's for sure. All the supermarkets will sell out of Pot Noodles in record time. I remember when you all used to mock Pot Noodles. Won't be mocking them in two years time.

That's what you think. That's what everyone thinks. That's what everyone will think. It's what the water thinks. It's perhaps not what the Pot Noodle thinks. The lighter's not too sure. They don't know though. No-one does. No one will.

      Getting paranoid about 2012 yet?

its a moneymaker for people who write books and make films on this stuff. 2012is when the Mayan calendar ended but they never said it was when the world would end. What will happen is a galactic alighment, the sun and the planets will alighn basically!! All that talk of the poles shifting and so on wont happen.

I dont even know how its even supposed to be considered legit.  First, the Mayan civilization existed before the formation of any standardized, protocols for keeping time,  ie Greenwich Mean Time, Time Zones,Geographic time zones, seasonal changes like "Daylight Savings Time" and before the use of Months,Weeks or Years.  The Year 2012 or any numerical year, is a fictitious, arbitrary number which "Technically" means nothing.

One day they decided to keep track of the lunar and solar cycles and combined it with a cycle based on the farmers calendar and growing seasons for wheat and vegetables.  Technically the year 2010 means absolutely nothing when it comes to a basis of the movement of the earth.  2010 is just the numbers of years that passed since they decided to start at year 0001 AD.

Experts cant even agree if the Mayan Calendar is even remotely close to our standard calendar.  The "2012" Mayan Year could of been 1836 for all we know. It could be 2471. They have no way of knowing for sure or if its truly correct.  The one things the Mayans could do which is amazing, was correctly track the eliptical rotation and axial rotation of the Earth and its corelation to the Sun. Which is why they considered the Sun a deity or God.

Other than that they had no way of predicting a Solar Flare or a Radiation spike. Which is supposedly how the Earth is going to end.

If a true solar storm hit us it may knock out power on certain grids and a large portion of society would not have power. But, that would not provide some country with a distinct Nuclear Missile advantage.  All Nuclear facilities are grounded and shielded from EMP.Radiation and even Solar Flares. Secondly, they dont run on the same electrical grid as the populace. They have their own distinct power supplies for launch, tracking and for all functions associated with the firing and safeguards of a Missile.  Now that may not be true in India or Pakistan. But it is true for Russian,American and European Nuclear powers.
