A Premiership footballer was arrested on suspicion of assault following an incident in a Stoke-on-Trent nightclub.
Stoke City striker Ricardo Fuller is accused of assaulting a 21-year-old man in the JFK Nightclub in Trinity Street, Hanley early on Sunday.
A spokesman for Stoke City, who beat Blackburn 3-0 at home on Saturday, confirmed the arrest but said there would be no further comment.
Staffordshire Police said a 30-year-old man was arrested and later bailed.
The Jamaican international, who joined Stoke City in August 2006, is due to report back to police next month.
A police spokeswoman said the victim suffered minor facial injuries and did not need hospital treatment.
Officers were called to the nightclub at about 0100 GMT and the spokeswoman urged any witnesses to contact them on 0300 1234455.
Mr Fuller was in the team that defeated Blackburn on Saturday.
