He really is. I know he's raved about enough as it is but it cannot be more deserved. Whether it's Lincoln, Gerry Conlon or Daniel Plainview it's impossible to pick a favourite role because they are so different and unique. I really underrated his role in Lincoln because I thought Tommy Lee Jones was such a scene stealer but on second viewing I loved how subtle and fragile his Lincoln is.

Heck, he even makes Gangs of New York worth it. Without him that film would be a no go (though I know some love that film! ). For me, he's the one pillar in that film that stops it from being an overblown flop.

If we're doing a bit of Daniel Day-Lewis appreciation, can we also have a shout out for his roles in There Will Be Blood and Last of The Mohicans.

The man is a master of his craft.

      Absolutely.

Whilst the original The wages of fear is the better film only just mind you , this is still one hell of a remake & this scene really is a nail biter  & one of the reasons why films from the 70’s still hold up today.
For those who are not familiar with the film

Harrison Ford at his very best. Another fine Peter Weir effort too.

So many iconic scenes in this movie....but this one is probably one of the best, I love it when he tosses the shotgun at Little Bill.

So easily dismissed as a pretty boy, but even before he became famous he was emotionally convincing. He's got good range too.

He's one of the best around mate. Been a fan of his for a long time.

His Calvin Candie in Django Unchanged is another favourite of mine.

One of the greatest of all time.

He was early in his career, and that increased when Titanic exploded. He was regarded as more a pin up phenomenon than serious actor.

Definitely the Pulp Fiction foot massage scene is up there for me, the fact it’s all in one take just adds so much to it.

There's a scene in Luther season two I think. The man's (taxi driver) been killing women and they finally figure out his identity. They bring his wife in for questioning and they reveal to her what her husbands been doing. The audio then cuts to silent as she hysterically cries. Such a powerful scene and a slight insight in to poor unsuspecting wives when they realise what their husbands have been doing.

Was talking to a mate of the other day who didn't know who Buddy Holly was, so I asked her if she'd seen Stand By Me and she said yeah. And then I told her the song Everyday in that film was a Buddy Holly song, which led us to watching the film.

And this scene (and basically the point of film) is a fave of mine.
