      Love this song.

Welled up went I went to see Rocketman in the summer.

      ........................ ..................

Its not a movie scene but classic all the same.

Series 5 Last Episode (6) of Peaky Blinders  when Tommy meets Alfie at Margate.  Amazing.
I can watch it over and over . Cillian and Tom steal the show.

If you looked closely in Series 4 Tommy is at the front door of his mansion with a brown dog.  Teaser.

Just watched it again last night.

When Lefty (Pacino) hands US $100 in an envelope with a card to Donnie. (Depp)

Before saying bye Lefty asks Donnie for a small loan.

Donnie starts to look in his pockets.  Lefty opens up Donnies jacket ... takes out the envelope where he only moments before saw Donnie put it and takes back the US$100.   Class.
      ..................

When Lefty tells Donnie not to carry his money in a wallet but only in a roll. Then walks off with the money.

      .................

When Lefty gets a Lion.   Surreal.

      Forget about it.

One of my highlights of my trip to New York a few years back was sitting in that very bar when Johnny Depp is.

Mulberry Street Bar and for any Sopranos fans it also was the location of the New York families meetings in the back room.

As much as the famous "you can't handle the truth" exchange is fantastic I really love the bit after when Caffey reminds Jessop he's a lawyer and an officer in the US Navy.

This scene always strikes me. That sad/malancholy look into the distance after he's told by General Grant that he looks 10 years older than he did a year previously. The way he carried Lincoln's sadness in this film was astounding.

He really is. I know he's raved about enough as it is but it cannot be more deserved. Whether it's Lincoln, Gerry Conlon or Daniel Plainview it's impossible to pick a favourite role because they are so different and unique. I really underrated his role in Lincoln because I thought Tommy Lee Jones was such a scene stealer but on second viewing I loved how subtle and fragile his Lincoln is.

Heck, he even makes Gangs of New York worth it. Without him that film would be a no go (though I know some love that film! ). For me, he's the one pillar in that film that stops it from being an overblown flop.

As you say hard to pick a favourite or best, but for me Daniel Plainview always stands out.

As for Gangs of New York, its flawed but I do have a soft spot for it. Ambitious and a passion project of Scorese's that I still go back to time and again.

That's true. Never any doubt about Scorsese's craft. Just never bought into DiCaprio's character. Truth be told I've never quite got into the whole Scorsese/Di Caprio partnership. He's Scorsese's 21st century Dr Niro but the partnership doesn't hold a candle to the countless masterpieces of the latter.

Nonetheless, would be a good film to look at again for second viewing I suppose.
