Any players we fancy from Pompey?

Portsmouth have asked the Premier League for permission to sell players outside the transfer window.

Pompey's crippling financial problems have been well documented this season and they handed over a statement of their affairs to the High Court on Wednesday.

Having survived a winding-up order last week, the South Coast club will return to court on 1st March to learn their fate.

At the original hearing the court heard that Portsmouth owed more than £11.5million in unpaid taxes with representatives from HMRC informing the court that Pompey are insolvent.

As well as looking for a new owner, Portsmouth have now contacted the Premier League about the possibility of selling players outside the transfer window, which closed on February 1st.

They would like to cash in on some of their stars immediately and not wait until the summer in an effort to pay their bills.

A club spokesman said: "I can confirm we have put in a request to the Premier League to sell players outside the transfer window. It is something we are exploring."

IF Gillet and Hicks decided to actually put some funds toward it, does anyone think we could take anyone from portsmouth for cheap? steve finnan back at anfield perhaps?

Where are we short? Probably attackers. And i wouldn't think any of their attackers would make any difference to what we have.

Although i symphasise with pompey fans about their club i dont feel any of their current players would enhance our side, As mentioned above they are at the arse of the table for a reason and besides Dirty Harry redknapp has already raped pompey of their best assets, Having said that maybe we could take Finnan back as cover but i doubt he would want to just warm the bench.

Nope.

Spot on about Kranjcar. I can't believe Spurs signed him for that little, and we weren't in with a shout. Not ripping on Aquilani, but Kranjcar would've been far more useful for just over 1/8 the expenditure.
