Best TV Programme Of All Time!

What is your favourite tv programme of all time? Could be something old, could be something new.

I know it may be a bit fo a cliche but The Simpsons wins it hands down for me. Sure it's not as good as it used to be but what else could have lived up to the episodes from the mid 90s which included such amazing tv episodes like Homer becoming a trade union leader or Bart and his friends battling over the first ever Radioactive Man comic. It makes it all the more remarkable as it is the only American tv show I like.

Only Fools & Horses for me, even when i see the repeats and know what is coming I still laugh.

Think its got to be OFAH for me too, as SM says its a show you cant really get sick of no matter how many times you see it!

Fawlty Towers wins it by a mile they only did two series of it but the anarchic humour and the totally amazing character portrayals was light years ahead of the comedy norm, it was and still is a yardstick that nobody has equalled.

The Simpsons - the fact I've seen most episodes about 20 times yet I've never got bored of them is quite something.

It's just ... entertaining! Even when it doesn't make you laugh out loud you are still smiling inside almost. Very clever programme.

It's a toss up between X-Files, Seinfeld, and The Simpsons. I can't separate them.

I've had so much enjoyment watching them over the years.

They decided not to have another series because they didnt want to over do it they should have stopped after two but some of the last series was alright.

While The Simpsons might not be as good as it was, it's still better than any other programme on tv. What I hate most is people saying that Family Guy is actually better than The Simpsons. Sure Family Guy is hilarious, but there is no genius to it - it's just cheap laughs you get out of it. Having said that the last series of Family Guy was utter horseshit. Blew my top off when people thought that 'Bird is the word' chant was actually funny. I could have kicked the tv in if I hear it again!

I still think the other series are great (the 3rd not so much though), but the 1st is undoubtely the best. If the other series were as good as the first, Prison Break would probably be my only answer in this thread.

Too right. Sesame Street was a lunchtime fixture for me when I was growing up in the 90s on Channel 4.

Best British comedy? It really is a toss up between Fawlty Towers and Only Fools. Seen all episodes and it's hard to choose.

The simpsons for me, world class comedy

Especially the episodes with Frank Grimes and the one with the lemon tree

I like Friends but thats a great description.

Scrubs is probably up there for me. Always cracks me up.

I have a lot of favs though, has changed often. Hard to say. 'Underbelly' in Australia is probably a favorite as far as sheer, tough, real drama goes.

Star Trek Deep Space 9 is one of the best things I've ever watched on TV.  I prefer sci-fi, so Quantum Leap deserves a mention too.

Ross - go and watch them when you have time, brilliant series and it does provide an ending and all the answers in the last series.

We know its far fetched but every episode leaves you on a knife edge wanting more so well worth a look.

In a more serious suggestion it used to be South Park for me but now Im nearly 30....Cough(On Saturday)
I dont know whether its age or less pot but Im morely likely to watch How I Met Your Mother......

Used to like Cheers, it's still very watchable and remember going to the actual bar in Boston, what a complete let down!
I knew that the show was filmed on a set and the real bar bore no resemblance but it wasn't even a bar, you could get a drink of F**k knows what cos it was a watery glass of liquid that defied description but when you went to sit down if you could find a seat ,you were asked to move if you weren't eating one of the "meals" they served.
We left the "ale" and pushed and shoved our way out but what an anti climax as i say the show is still funny but crazy as it sounds that experience took the edge off it.

I actually watch Glee as well. My girlfriend is a musical theatre graduate so it's her kinda stuff. Not a bad show.

Otherwise, there are loads of great series. Always liked Twin Peaks and The X-Files.

Comedy-wise, definitely The Simpsons, always guaranteed to make you laugh, and I don't find I get bored of it like I did with Friends. F**k me, if I even skip onto one channel hopping, I have to change straight away, can't bear it anymore.

Desperate Housewives is one me and the wife like, along with Dexter and House MD.

Used to love NYPD Blue as well.

There was a marothon on today leading up to the season finale which I'm watching now. Action packed show that just drips in coolness.

I wouldn't count it, all that ever happens on it is us getting slated, I don't find that good viewing.

Like all series the first ones are the best LFC featured in the first episide ! and the episodes in the 70's & 80'S were a joy to watch !

The funny thing is my son is nearly two and when the "single ladies" bit came on he started dancing around the room like a baby possessed

I have them on VHS also and have replaced them on DVD but can't sell the Videos as the postage costs are too much via E-bay !

In it's hay-day Dead Ringers was quality and I know a couple of those who remember it would have Spitting Image up there as well. That was probably the biggest thing to hit the telly during the 80s.

Cell Block H was so crap it was good ! Termites could have escaped from there quicker than the inmates, the scenery was more wooden than the acting (the word 'Acting' I use very loosely !")!

Funniest episode has to be Homer Badman when poor Homer is accused of being a pervert!
