A must improved performance is required for this game, I think that it is important to at least go for the away goal, the team need to be more attack minded from the outset.
couldnt agree more. something akin to the real madrid game last season would be marvellous. may not be as effective without someone with alonso's talents but maybe we should try to have an attacking setup with aquilani in midfield with the purpose of directing incisive passes

Pain-relief and injuries permitting (mostly affecting Aquilani and Agger) this is the team I would be sending out.

      Reina

      Kelly - Agger - Kyrgiakos - Johnson

      Mascherano - Leiva
      Benayoun - Aquilani - Riera
      Torres

Subs: Cavalieri, Gerrard, Carragher, Kuyt, Pacheco, Ngog, Babel

I like the look of that JD and it might give a few of the players on the bench the wake up call they need.

I cant believe people are throwing Lucas on the team sheet ahead of Gerrard.

Surely it goes beyond blind faith and rose tinted glasses and all that, must be a pure piss take. It seems Lucas has a group of fans  on this forum who will tirelessly defend him at all costs no matter what, and only these people can actually see the supposed quality he brings on the park week in and week out. Whilst the rest of the reds fans and the football world are a misreable shower of b's who want him to fail.

      Anyways back on topic I would start with the following team;

                                 Pepe
       Carragher         Agger      Sotis      Insua

        Babel           Gerrard Masch         Riera

                            Aquilani

                          Torres

I think we could come away with a sneaky away goal here, none other than by Gerrard.

      Come on you reds!

Didn't realise it was a 6pm kick off. I should be able to catch the first half then.

Think we will be grateful to get a 1 - 1 draw, and think well off the away goal

personally im looking for a win. i dont really want to consider that in light of our form and performances this season that i cant expect any better than a draw. in fact because of the last performance im definately expecting a win just as i would be if we were playing manure instead of lille. i cant get used to this not expecting much from Liverpool

Just basing it on the last game that is all.  If Carragher wasn't playing centre-back I would be more inclined to play Gerrard alongside Mascherano.  Anyway, it's not going to happen is it.

Of course but  I'd be happy to take a draw if we get the away goal.

I'll stay alone watching the game tonight and expects any results from Liverpool. Still don't feel well since loosing from Wigan.

Im interested to see if any of the team from Monday nights match will dropped because that was the angriest ive saw Rafa in a post match interview.

There could easily be several changes and i think it was JDs line up that had no Gerrard and Carra in it which i would totally agree with however i really dont think Rafa will have the bottle to do it away from home when its the only chance of silverware we have left.

Tough to pick so heres my thoughts

                  Rafas Team                          My team

                     Reina                                                   Reina
Johnson  Carra  Agger  Insua                Johnson Soti  Agger  Anyone but Insua
                 Masch  Lucas                                         Masch  Gerrard
      Kuyt                        Babel                    Babel                           Reira

Id go with your team alright. Just one proviso. Gerrard has to play behind Torres. He doesn't have the passing game. That was quite evident against Wigan. Hopefully Aquilani can do that job. Id rather give Kelly a run in an unfamiliar role than have Insua play anytime soon.

      My team for tonight game.

Reina, Johnson, Soto, Agger, Insua, Mascherano, Aquilani, Babel, Riera, Gerrard and Torress. Carragher and Kuyt should start on the bench and if possible not to play them.

Lille are a decent side and if the lads produce anything like they did against Wigan, we could well be in for a good hiding tonight.

The lads must give our travelling fans something back after that last episode! They deserve more than half a.rsed attempts from players who should be counting themselves lucky wearing that red-shirt.

Fourth in the league is fading in the distance, setting over the horizon line now. We may aswell go for this cup now and try salvage something from a horrendous season. At least try and finish it on some kind of high, even though it is Europe's second rate cup comp.

I'm basing my first XI on nothing but passion:

                         Reina

      Kelly       Sotis      Agger      Johnson

              Mascherano  Aquilani

       Yossi         Pacheco          Babel

                        Torres

Gerrard and Carra dropped and rotting in the reserves. They are not ambassadors of this club if they think arsing about and using their 'local boy' status is enough to keep them.
