Welcome back Raheem, get well soon mate.

      From the FA Site.

      Raheem returns to Liverpool

      Sunday, 08 May, 2011

By Nicholas Veevers in Novi Sad.

England U17s ace Raheem Sterling has returned to parent club Liverpool today, after picking up an ankle injury in Friday's game with Denmark.

Sterling was substituted just before half time in the match after stretching to control a pass and after being evaluated by the England medical staff in Serbia and consultation with their counterparts at Anfield, it was decided that he wouldn't be fit to feature in Monday's Group A closer with the host nation so would return to his club for further treatment.

He didn't play in the first game with France, as he only arrived to link up with the squad last Sunday but he is now on his way back to Anfield having flown from Belgrade on Sunday morning.

"We'd like to thank Raheem for his contributions, as he's played a major part this season throughout the qualification process," said Head Coach John Peacock.

"It's a shame that it's had to end this way for him, but it will have been a great experience for Raheem and I'm sure he'll wish all of the squad the best in their aim to reach the World Cup and the semi-final of the European Championship."

Peacock will not replace Sterling with anyone ahead of Monday's game.

On another level for the U17's. A goal and some amazing stuff from the wing. Sensational young player we've got.

Watching the U-17 WC game I've came to conclusion that this young lad is our new John Barnes. He was the best player in the first half by a country mile, hitting the post after cutting to the centre. He started brightly in the second half but soon faded away. In the 86. minute, he came back from his slumber and netted a beauty of a goal from a decent range right into the top right corner.
He has also shown a decent understanding with our youth team LB Brad Smith (a good performance from him too).

Does he remind anyone else of SWP?

I think he's a better player, but the style of running is pretty similar.

I think he's a better player, but the style of running is pretty similar.

The problem with SWP was that he had incredible potential but a confidence wrecking turn at Chelsea really fu**ed him up. He could have stayed at Man City or held out for Arsenal where I think Wenger would have done wonders for the guy but he didn't. He was too rash and made a very poor career choice, something we see too often these days from young talent. They think they have it all and have made it and think they can go to the best team in the world or their country and do the same thing only to look extremely average.

The same won't and can't happen to Raheem. A far greater talent at his age than SWP and with a great prospect of going really far at this club at a very young age thanks to the structure which stems from Dalglish. He's at a great club which knows how to nurture fine talent and he will go far. He can be a legend here.

He doesn't need to grow an inch! I can't wait to see what he can do when actually beefs up, becomes physically stronger and is able to out muscle the defenders. I watched the game and felt so proud of him and excited at the thought of him dominating our wings in the years to come. If he get as strong as Messi that'd be brilliant, for he's extremely expansive and explosive.

What a talent!! He's surely a future world class player!! Watched the game last night and every time he got the ball he was looking to get forward and get passed people, which he did perfectly and was absolutely MOTM. Can't wait to see him playing regular football here.
