Love it when I figure out songs on my own.

For example the little solo at the end of 'So Here We Are' by Bloc Party - worked it out through trial and error yesterday.

Been learning Smashing Pumkins stuff at the moment - a bit of an annoyance going into Eb for some of the songs though.

      Tune that.

I'm very proud of recently learning Soldier On - Temper Trap. I'm going home to an empty house so it's getting turned up and I'm going to fine tune it to death! :)

      Kinda in a dilemma.

I want to buy an electric guitar here. I am either getting a package or guitar/amp/cable/strap separately.

Been checking online and I kinda want either Gibson/Epiphone or Ibanez. Gibson is too expensive and I've found some Epiphone SGs/Les Pauls and Ibanezs between 100-200 pounds.

Some sites have great packages. Tempting but no reviews on the products so I'm really unsure. If not, I'd get them stuff separately or does anyone know a reliable site that sell quality guitars?

Always risking buying guitars off the net. You don't know what the action is like until you've already bought it and you won't get the support a shop would offer you should anything go wrong.

Hmmm, thanks for the heads up, paul. There's a shop here in Lancaster, I probably should check it out then. Probably will cost more even!

When I bought my American strat (which I got for around £919) I considered buying off the net as I could get it for about £50-£70 less. After researching a bit I found a lot of people in reviews always advised buying in store as you get to try the guitar out and make sure it exactly what you want and it can achieve the sound you are looking to create. I'm extremely glad I did. I've also got the piece of mind of that if anything should ever go wrong with the guitar, I can always take it in and have them look at it for me.

      Hmm, thanks paul and StevieG123.

Reason I wanna buy a cheap one is because I have a BC Rich back in Malaysia and the Ibanez in the video belongs to my friend :(

Lancaster is a really small town so there's probably one shop only. Might go to London and Manchester during Easter, though, and see what price I can get but have a feeling they'd be more expensive. But first, need to get the green light from me parents!

If you're going to come to London, I'd advise you to go to Denmark street, several if not more guitar shops along the road, with some good deals.

Thanks mate, I'll keep that in mind. Gonna be a drag carrying a guitar and amp around when I travel, though!

An LFC Reds band wouldn't be short of guitarists anyway.
