I guess it's like someone busting a gut to get a Gucci bag, costs a fortune, it's irrational to pay that much, but they want it, they'll do anything to get it, but at the end of the day, it's just a bag.

Looks like we're gonna have to put a Lacoste tracky on John Aldridge and send him down down to the Nou Camp with a baseball bat if we want to see that Coutinho money anytime soon

Probably sell Messi to the oligarchs and pay off their debts... that looks like the strategy to me..

They won't be selling him as he has a clause in his contract which allows him to leave on a free every summer, so he'll more than likely just trigger that in a few months time and leave for zilch. If the financial situation is as dire as it seems I'd be looking at coming to some sort of agreement which would see him leave now. £1M a week base salary he's supposedly being paid - that's £25M between now and the end of the season

Barcelona using Suarez as the scapegoat for the defeat to Bayern and letting Atletico have him for nothing looking very, very silly now.

That might be the bullshit reason, but it was about money, nothing else. Ffs the way he's banging goals,  we should of brought him back. Definitely wouldn't be having the issue of lack of goals.

I remember people turning their nose up in the transfer thread in the summer because I said I'd take him back in a heartbeat. Obviously we were never going to sign him because of the financials but he certainly isn't "finished" like a lot of people were trying to argue  ;D

Barcelona: Catalan police make several arrests over financial issues at Spanish club
Catalan police say they have made several arrests after searching the offices of Spanish side Barcelona.

The number of arrests made and the identity of those involved have not yet been confirmed.

The police operation was conducted on Monday after an investigation into financial issues at Barcelona.

The club's presidential elections take place on Sunday after their previous president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, announced his resignation in October.

In a statement, Barcelona said the police searches related to the "contacting of monitoring services on social networks".

"FC Barcelona have offered up their full collaboration to the legal and police authorities to help make clear facts which are subject to investigation," the club said.

"The information and documentation requested by the judicial police force relate strictly to the facts relative to this case.

"FC Barcelona expresses its utmost respect for the judicial process in place and for the principle of presumed innocence for the people affected within the remit of this investigation."

According to reports in Spain, the investigation relates to the 'Barcagate' scandal of February 2020, when the club were forced to deny hiring a firm to attack their own players on social media.

Barcelona don't owe the debt to Liverpool, we sold it on to a financial company.

Wonder how common this is in football. In the corporate world it is not all that uncommon for companies to sell their A/R to a financial company.
