Danny Wilson insists there is a real buzz in the air at Melwood following the arrival of Kenny Dalglish.



The Liverpool manager went out of his way to help Wilson settle into life on Merseyside and the young Scot is determined to try and break into his team and show what he can do.

"It's really good having Kenny as the manager and there is a real buzz about the place," Wilson told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"Everyone is enjoying themselves a bit more and long may it continue.

"I spoke to Kenny before I came to Liverpool about coming down from Scotland and now he is my manager.

"It seems a bit strange as he has gone from being a friend and now he's my boss.

"He is good with every player and he takes the time to speak to everybody which can only be good for us as players."

Wilson gave an assured display at centre-half during the reserves' 1-0 win over Manchester City on Wednesday night and he was grateful to get some minutes under his belt.

"It has been five or six weeks since my last game so it was nice to get on the pitch, even if it was for only 45 minutes," he added.

"I wanted to play for longer but the manager was happy to give me the 45."

Dalglish has spoken several times recently about how impressive Wilson has been in training and the 19-year-old is eager to repay that faith when the opportunity arises.

He said: "I always try to work my hardest in training and it's good to see that the manager has taken note of that and he has me in his thoughts.

"I know there are a lot of quality players at this club ahead of me at the moment but hopefully if I get an opportunity I can do myself justice."

Linked with a loan move to Celtic today in the Daily Record (Glasgow paper) said Kenny has had a heart to heart with Wilson and told him that Europe League is guaranteed for him.

Said it was unlikely to go through because of Dalglish liking him but Celtic made it known they were an option if he wanted to play some games before May.

Article made clear Kenny wanted to keep him but I don't think someone from the Rangers youth system would deffo say no to Celtic. I think Livingston is a special case and we don't know what way he was raised so maybe he would play for Celtic.

Europa League beside Dagger would do nicely

In all honesty i'd play him alongside Agger at the moment. Skrtel has been awful recently and i feel the inclusion of Wilson could give Skrtel the kick up the arse he most certainly needs.

Forget the recent past. These lads will make the future. It's looking good  

Called up for Scotland again. Looks like he'll be in the squad for them all the time now. Made up for the lad, deserves first team games.

Seen as the mainstay in defence for the foreseeable future.

Pretty sure he's guaranteed a starting place in the EL.

Ya he was going to go on loan to Celtic I think but Kenny said he would get some game time.

Would love to see this lad get a run out as a sub in a few games. We need to give the kids a chance to prove themselves.

Craig Levein was an excellent defender and knows his stuff...so much so he gave me an award 20yrs ago... just because I was part of the defence in a team that never lost....
