Liverpool planning shock summer move for Wolves goalkeeper
Published 11:52 22/04/10 By John Percy
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is preparing a shock £2.5million bid for Wolves keeper Wayne Hennessey.

Benitez has targeted Wales international Hennessey for a surprise summer switch to Anfield as back-up to No. 1 Pepe Reina.

Hennessey has lost his place to Marcus Hahnemann at Molineux and not played in the Premier League since Wolves" 4-0 thrashing against Chelsea in November.

But Benitez believes the 23-year-old will be an ideal No. 2 to Reina and is ready to make his move at the end of the season.

Surely we have enough keepers already? The only way this could be true is if Cavalieri leaves. After 2 years of bench warming, and after numerous shaky performances in the cups, it is possible he will go.

The lad knows he'd be on his arse on the bench all season. Only keepers I can see us getting are lower league ones (Theres been gems found down there before ye know  ;) )

We've got plenty already - Dave Martin is 24 and still on the books and we just signed another youngster from Swindon - I mean ffs, no matter how many good goalkeepers you have at a club, you can only use one of them - last time I checked we have a good goal-keeper with 10 years left on the clock!!

      Rafa sure loves his goal-keepers

and his full backs. He's worth a shout but maybe another goalkeeper from the reserves should be given the opportunity.

How about we stop signing these keepers for a couple of million and just keep the back up we have. At this rate it's sign one, keep him for a couple of years and basically dont play him, sell him and then do it all again. Lets just stick with Diego as our number 2.

It's whether he wants to stay or not. Can't blame him IF he does want to move onto another club.

Could mean that Diego could be on his way out of the club and we're looking for a new number 2.

Diego Cavalieri will almost certainly leave the club this Summer for personal reasons following a traumatic year in which he lost his Father and his Wife suffered a miscarriage, hence the reason why Rafa could be looking at Hennessey.

Must be hard for keepers to make these sort of decisions. You get the chance to move to a top club but at the same time, you know that barring major injuries to the current first choice keeper, you're probably limited to Carling Cup and early FA Cup games.
As for Cav, the poor lad has had a nightmare year and at the same time, he's hardly had a game. I couldn't hold it against him if he wanted to go home or even just to a team where he could concentrate on playing regularly.
