The Verve

Any fans out there of this fantastic band? Famous for their numerous split ups (I think they've split up again) but also famous for their brilliant music. I'd define them as a cross between Oasis and Coldplay, so I'd be surprised if there's fans of those bands who hate this one. You're bound to have heard Bittersweet Symphony such is the appeal of the song.

My favourite Verve song? Would have to be Lucky Man. What a song!

What did you think of their 4th album? I thought it was really solid and I found it very enjoyable to listen. Love Is Noise is fantastic.

For you (and many others!) it can, but for me I've never gotten into Radiohead. I just find them overrated and boring.

Urban Hymns is definately their best album, and one of the best from the 90's, but their earlier work is brilliant too - more shoegazing style, less britpop, but equally great.

Great post. Although I think The Verve doing Britpop was The Verve and Britpop at its most genius.

Was lucky enough to attend the legendary Haigh Hall gig back in the late 90's, probably the bestg gig I've ever been too.

Urban Hymns is a great album as is Norther Soul and thought Forth was suprisingly good.

Like a lot of Ashcrofts solo stuff too, his first solo album Alone with Everyone is very good.
