How can we keep heaping the blame on to the yanks, they never spent over 200m and ended up with a very very average squad.

Rafa has not spent 200 million really though has he, his net spend is infact around 68 million over six years, giving him a yearly average of over just 11 million per season to fight on all four fronts.

      Lemme get this right.

Masch, a holding midfielder who played as an emergency right-back on Thursday night and was replaced because of fatigue, is named in the same exposed position against Chelsea.

      He gets skinned.

On the bench, meanwhile, a specialist international right-back (Deggen) who was put on the pay-roll to cover this position never gets a kick.

That's one kind of tactical genius, I suppose :f_steam:

Both Rafa and owners share the blame but the owners are the main reason all these problems arose.

A different manager under the same owners won't make any difference but the same manager under different owners may.

Roy Hogson playing for a shittier squad does. MON as much as we hate him have been doing a good job. Rafa with all the world class player he got pits us with the likes of Everton and Birmingham.

So yes, if we have had different managers this season , they might perform better. But hindsight is always a bi*ch

And the mancs net spend for last season is -60M

The fact that the manager is forced to search the bargain department and sell to buy means the likelyhood of misjudgements is greatly increased, any errors are magnified because of the lack of squad depth. Do your research! The owners have put zilch into this club and we are seeing the results, in all fairness the post is so far off the mark instead of highlighting the erroneous segments retyping the whole piece in bold print would be the way to go then I thought what's the use?

I don't think Aquilani and Glen Johnson are bargain basement. The mancs replaced the BPITW with Valenica, and the last time I check Chelsea didn't add anyone worthy of note (zhirkov), so does to Arsenal. I can accept us underperforming but this season is not an underperformance, it is an atrocity, specially the loss of passion and hunger is unacceptable.

I've done my research, and it stated that we're 4-5 points better than Birmingham and Everton, while having a world apart class player, they don't have The best striker in the world, the best DM in the world, arguably the best RB in Britain, the Best GK in the world we all claimed last season.

I think Rafa figured out that this free signing in Degen isn't really an answer.

I like defenders to be able to defend and Masch can, Degen can't.

Plus, wasn't Masch near man of the match against the blueshite when he played at right back? Tactical genius.

Ok as your so keen to pint out Rafa's failings in the market and throw Fergie into the debate, I think it's only fair to highlight Fergies failings too and there have been plenty of them a few that spring to mind instantaneously are.

      Veron.
      Massimo Taibi.
      Djemba Djemba.
      Kleberson.
      Hargreaves.
      Berbaflop.

To name but a few and there is many more, even your holiest of holiest fucks up in the market.

Degen, a specialist international right back? must have confused him with his twin because our Degen is in a word, sh*te.

For the first time ever I was actually quite sad sitting in Anfield yesterday. It was shocking to get a huge reality check from Chelsea in how big a step back we have taken this season. It was sad seeing our team just give up. It was sad seeing our captain make basic mistakes and be completely outplayed for the entire game. It was sad to see the lack of depth in our squad. It was sad to see the body language of absolutley everyone connected to the club and it was sad listening to their fans take the piss out of us all game. And what was our comeback to their fans. Taking the piss out of their history. Ironic really when it is the future of our great club that we should be concerning ourselves with.

12 months ago I was bouncing in my seat watching us destroy Spurs in the last game of the season. The lap of honour from the players was just as much the fans thanking them as the players thanking the fans. Players and fans alike couldn't wait for the new season.

This season it even looked like the lap of 'honour' was a half arsed attempt. Absolutely every player just wanted to get off the pitch.

Based on yesterdays peformance we have a huge re-building job to do as we were camped in our half for the entire 2nd half and half of our squad just are not good enough or don't want to be there.

Whether it's Rafa, the players or the owners, there is one thing that we desperately need at Anfiled next season and that is CHANGE!

And that change had better not be an increase in the season ticket prices after paying to watch that all season! :'(

quite a culture shock to see we are that bad even our skipper playing like a first year player. we had one shot on net to there ten. we have seen similar games like this no quality.no easy answers thats the trouble. you are dealing with players who know if they have a bad game they will still play next week

Ha! Are you serious?? Your using last season when they sold ONE player for 80 f**king million as an argument? My lord, you must be getting some bitchin' splinters from the bottom of that barrel.

First off, United have had a more even squad than us for a longer time, but even that is starting to fade. Think about it, without Rooney in the terrific form he has been in they could very well be fighting for fourth as well. Not to mention if Chelsea hadn't bottled it repeatedly then United wouldn't be in the title fight. They have gotten lucky a lot this season.

EDIT: Apologies for the off-topicness there. Actually thought I was in the 'Rafa debate' thread after awhile because of some of the posts and responded accordingly.

So what's the good in Benitez adding useless players to the squad?

Does he assess players like this (or Dossena, or Voronin) before bringing them to Anfield?  If the answer is yes, then he's a very bad judge.

If the answer is no, then he's not up to the job.
