And I can tell you one thing voronin is quick strong long range hitter and score goals from acute angles. A real gem. Definitely better than Bellamy and can push Torres all the way even in our next CL final.

Has everyone forgotten that Rafa likes this little thing called rotation?

If the gaffer himself doesn't name the same lineup for 99 games then how are we supposed to say what it will be? Rafa has built a squad that gives us many different options to use depending on the opposition we're playing, and our line up will reflect the opposition & the tactics they use.

Tell me the opposition & I'll predict a lineup, but no-one can say what the best lineup is without knowing who it's against.

I sort of agree with you Eddiec but although Raafa favours a rotation policy, you have to agree, a settled side usually gives consistent results. when you don't know who you're going to be playing with until one hour before K. O.  it can't be good for moral surely

I think the 4-5-1 will be good line up, although I see more off a 4-2-3-1!

I think Kuyt will be the man further up the pitch with Pennant/Babel, Gerrard/Leiva and Torres/Kewell supporting, and Alonso and Mascherano/Sissoko as the holding players.
The defence is undisputed as Reina in goal. Finnan, Carragher, Agger and Riise, as the best defence in the League bar none!

We would be great defensively and awesome going forward!

Voronin is another option as the front man in tougher games as he is very strong and can hold the ball up well , allowing time for the rest off the attacking quartet to arrive.

I also think the free role in the middle is Gerrard's best position. He didn't have a great season last (by his godly standards), but that was due to having played in the world cup. This year he will be fresh as a daisy and will dominate every match he plays. I'd tip him to easily score 20+ this season and be Player of the year and European Player of the year!

But then this is only my opinion. I will leave it up to our master, Rafa Benitez to get it right!

I'd disagree with you there, but seeing as it's such a debatable topic I'm gonna start a new thread on it. You can see my opinions there.

I think that Gerrard might end up playing like he did last season in that he starts on the wing and he does what he likes, but I have the feeling that Kuyt-Torres upfront will start at Villa Park. I think Babel will be eased into the side as he is still young.

why is everyone adding players to the squad who have clearly not signed and wont before the transfer window closes. surely the only new addition to the squad would be heinze if anyone. heres my realistic squad. the players name in capitals are fist choise e.g REINA over carson.

i think thats what rafa wanted two decent players in every position.

kewell doesn't deserve a spot on his performances in the asia cup
i would start babel over him
although i haven't seen much of babel what i saw in the under 21's he has got it all over kewell at this moment in time
and i don't think we should start kewell right off the bat anyway because that will make him think he is untouchable, out for so long injured then he just walks straight back into one of the worlds greatest teams?
did anyone see him showing off before his penalty against japan then he fluffed it?
it was a sh*te penalty just like his form at the moment
