Liverpool are hoping to make a successful move for German international starlet Mesut Ozil this summer.

Rafa Benitez is a big fan of the Werder Bremen attacker and hopes that he can convince the Bundesliga club to accept an offer in the region of £8m for the 21 year old.

The former Schalke man reportedly has just one year left on his contract and may well be interested in a move to the Premier League and would no doubt be excited by interest shown in him by the Anfield outfit.

Rafa Benitez is looking for more creativity in his midfield and is apparently most interested in Ozil's ability to play in a number of different positions.

The well built Bremen man can play across the midfield as well as effectively on both wings but perhaps most interestingly can be used in the hole behind the strikers.

A number of sides are reportedly interested in Ozil with Arsenal being one side who has repeatedly linked with a move for his services and has been in sparkling form this term weighing in with nine goals and 17 assists which have helped his side to a third placed finish and a coveted Champions League spot.

Linking us to a player who will shoot up in value over the world cup and yet we have no manager and no money

      Dream on

Ozil performed very well in his first WC appearance. Looks to be very strong on the ball and could prove to be a big threat in the EPL. Would be a great signing for us if we can find somewhere to put him.

Shame that we were linked when Rafa was an apparent "fan" of his, 8 million is a ridiculous claim though, and the way he played in Germany's first game Werder Bremen have the right to ask for a lot more.

Just another pipe dream I'm guessing.

How can we think about getting new players in. Who is goin to negotiate a deal. The way the sittuation is goin we will end up with a geek who thnks championship manager on sum kinda games console will help. We r managerless at the min and i dnt like the names that r rearing up 4 the job.

We have no money, manager or attractions at the moment-apart from the honor of playing with stevie, nando, masch (if he stays), pepe...and other teams will beat us to the signature of him...also though, where would he fit in?
He wouldn't want to be a sub for most games and of course our starting midfield would be likely to be
      Masch/Lucas - Ozil isn't a holding midfielder so therefore wouldn't play there.
Aquilani - New and deserves a full season and full fitness.
Maxi - Same as aquilani really...and I was impressed with his half season that he had last season
Gerrard - He's never gonna get our skipper out of the team.
New left winger - I wouldnt fancy Ozil at left wing as I think the same thing would happen to him as what happened to Gerrard when pushed out left. He loses almost all his effectiveness.

He undoubtedly has talent in abundance but I struggle to see a way that he could fit in and be used to his full effectiveness...would much rather have a new proper left winger...such as Jovetic...David Silva...Yes we can dream of new owners...but we're not gonna afford Ozil with the current ones are we :/

He would be a perfect couple in attack for Fernando Torres. Young, perspective, fast. We have none more to want this summer.

He may well look like Riera but he's 10 times the player.

He's exactly the type of winger we need to sign, but sadly due to his performances in South Africa, i doubt we could afford him.
