This is the Maltese Anthem sang by Kevin Borg that won 'Swedish Idol Winner 2008'. He's Maltese.

Our national anthem is pathetic. So I'll go with my slight Italian blood and post the best anthem there is.

Honestly in Malta we have many Italian fans & it is very nice.

One one side you have the one of the best Anthem & on the other hand one of the least nice.

Oldest national anthem in the world!

Het Wilhelmus Nederland - Italië 2008

Though we only sing the first part before games, it's actually made of 15 parts.

I really like the Italian national anthem and the passion their players sing it. The French anthem is nice too.

And I like my country's anthem too. It sounds much better on volleyball matches when the fans keep singing it when it stops, which has become some kind of tradition in the Brazilian games:

      Spanish National Anthem

National Anthem of Spain Euro 2008

I'm still unsure whether it actually has lyrics or not.

      Malaysian National Anthem

      Negaraku

Seems the tune is similar to that of a Hawaiian song. No originality

Just like the Singaporean National anthem, it's in Malay.

Nothing beats a rendition of the Italian national anthem when it's done at Monza in front of die hard Tifosi!

I personally think we should get rid of that droning bore God Save The Queen. I'm not a republican or anything but it just doesn't stir up the passion at ALL! For a country that has as proud a standing as Britain surely we can do better?

Why every English person hate the Anthem? Is this something about history or anything? Thanks mates

I don't know about 'God Save the Queen' not stirring up passion - the sixth verse always works for me.... :f_whistle:

      Lord grant that Marshal Wade
      May by thy mighty aid
      Victory bring.
      May he sedition hush,
      And like a torrent rush,
      Rebellious Scots to crush.
      God save the Queen!

Yeah, we could be doing with a change.

Our national anthem is about 1 woman (at the moment until she cops it) whereas other national anthems are about their countries, and not the person presiding over it

Personally I pretty much despise other parts of the country for their pathetic way they at times refer to scousers and my city in general, but if we were to have another anthem, my choice instead of God save the Queen, it would be Land Of Hope and Glory.

      Far more stirring.

Ours(Holland) is the same. But it's 400 years old or something, changing it now would just be wrong, even if none of us believe in the lyrics anymore.

      Our main verse:

      Wilhelmus van Nassouwe
      ben ik, van Duitsen bloed,
      den vaderland getrouwe
blijf ik tot in den dood.
      Een Prinse van Oranje
      ben ik, vrij, onverveerd,
      den Koning van Hispanje
      heb ik altijd geëerd.

      Translated to English:

      William of Nassau
am I, of German blood.(this one is controversial, especially after WW2 many prefer to think it translates to dutch not german, though they're just fooling themselfs in my opinion, he was born in Germany afterall)
      Loyal to the fatherland
I will remain until I die.
      A prince of Orange
      am I, free and fearless.
      The king of Spain
      I have always honoured.

William of Orange is a big figure for my country though. Founder of my country, everybody is fine with him representing us. Without him, no Holland or orange ;)

      This.

Sorry Britain. :D You can pick and choose when you want the Scousers on side so I would rather choose to disassociate myself from all the 'pride in your country' sh*te.

      YNWA for me too.
