      I have a question.

May sound silly but, why is your country called Netherlands and sometimes Holland?

Not a silly question. Technically Holland isn't right, but I think it's just easier for most foreigners to say than the Netherlands and the term Holland might be more known from our past than the Netherlands. But technically Holland is only the west part, as can be seen on this picture:

That part of my country was by far the most powerful in the past compared to the rest. Especially during our Golden age in the 17th century, there were only 1 million people living in Holland, the west part, they had alot of wealth and power at that time. The rest of the Netherlands was all farmland mostly. Holland owned about 70% of the worlds fleet at some point, maybe even more. Very intelligent traders, invented the stock. They even originally founded New York, though it was called New Amsterdam before you english noobs stole it from us. Even now Holland is where most people live, Amsterdam is there, Rotterdam, Den Haag. So yeah, we dutch say mostly just Nederland(Netherlands), but Holland is normal to say too. Over the years, Holland has become a common term to describe all of the Netherlands.

Saw the last 30 minutes of the first, and the Mexican goal by ManU bound El Chicharito. Van Persie's second goal was a class strike. He will make some noise in South Africa as long as Sneijder is willing to pass the ball to him.

Love the new Dutch national kit.

Would really, really want Rafael van der Vaart at Anfield. Captained the team last night. Robin van Persie is a good finish, IMO.

      1st goal:
      Netherlands-Mexico 1-0 26/5/2010

      2nd goal:
      Netherlands-Mexico 2-0 26/5/2010

Like the 2nd especially. Van Perise certainly seems back on form in time after his injury.

I bought the new dutch home top the other day, I really liked it so I decided to get it for the World Cup.

Considering getting it myself! Might actually be able to get it on the cheap in Amsterdam if I end up visiting in the summer.

He's a tricky little player. Should move into a bigger league very soon.

      Some excellent depth in Holland.

Nice one mate, how is it? I don't even have one yet, but I will. Do you have a name on it? I might go with Sneijder. The fabric is weird I heard? Though all Nike kits are, recycled plastic.

Yeah, he's moving this summer, I'm about 99% about that. He's made it quite clear in the media, and PSV has already been making moves on other players, they just got Jermain Lens(talented dutch foward) and are also getting El Hamdaoui, both from AZ. Rumours are Affelay costs only 7.5 million pounds at the moment.

Amsterdam isn't cheap. Would you go to London to get a cheap England shirt? :P That said, if there's anything you'll want to know about Amsterdam or Holland before you get here, let me know!

I woudn't be surprised if you pay more out there, I was over there in March and my god has the price of everything gone up. :(.
Don't think it's that the price has gone up, more that the euro has gone up compared to the pound? But yeah, either way Amsterdam isn't cheap. You should try living here as a student ;D

Yeah, I know, way too cheap, but I can see him going for that price. Maybe it's cause he had a bad season, he seemed frustrated at PSV this season. They don't want Babel though, they have Dzsudzsák on the left, by now I'd take him over Babel.

No mate I don't have a name and numbe on the back because I don't do that anymoe, (getting old.) If I did ever get a name o the back I would definately get Bergkamp ;).

Oh and yes I could imagine being a student in Amsterdam, must be horrendous. Beer is so expensive as well. The red light district is still good value though.

South Africa beat Colombia 2-1, with all goals being penalties I think.

      Denmark beat Senegal 2-0.
