England hyped up. Then fail to deliver.

      Who'd have thought it?

It's all change until the tournament starts. Capello's done this, improved that. First game,

Gonna be a great one! Ive already been scouting a few pubs up here in Oregon to watch the match in :D

Wouldn't say the US and England are the only teams who don't "Dive" though. Teams like Australia don't dive anymore than they do. Gerrard for example, as much as i love the guy, is a diver. I think i know what you mean though, they are two teams that don't resort to the types of dirty diving tactics like the Italians for example.

I'm a fellow Yank on the forum, you're not alone! Of course the US can beat England, the US has the talent to beat any team on any given day. They also have the inconsistency to make teams like Trinidad and Tobago look like CONCACAF contenders at times. We are frustratingly inconsistent.

I fee the US plays better against big opposition with good midfielders. We are a counter-attacking team, so England will be the game that will play best to our abilities. The fact that they needed two own goals against Japan is encouraging, but anything can happen with Rooney and Gerrard attacking our goal. They will possess the ball, and we will count on against the run of play goals, just like against Spain and Brazil in the Confederations Cup.

I think some teams in the EPL will take a look at Michael Bradley once the Finals are over. He is poised to breakout. He's a great box to box midfielder, and would fit in the English game perfectly, as his fitness and physicality is outstanding.

I don't expect the US to win, but I know they have a chance, and that's all I ask. Viva Tio Sam!

Football v Soccer. Should be interesting.

I think that England's midfield will destroy the whole US team, if Capello puts everyone in the right place.

US are a decent side... I can see this finishing as a score draw.

To be fair, the Japan game was a very experimental lineup. It was a game in which Capello wanted to see who would make his 23. And he found out there and then.

England has too much quality to not win this game. They did win 2-0 in a friendly not long ago but that's irrelevant.

However, we've seen upsets in football.

Also a Yank here. I think USA has the potential to win, and/or make a game of it but I really question the coaching decisions Bradley will make. Be it the starting 11, or his use of substitutions, he just isn't good enough for a budding Soccer Nation.

The obvious 11 for me is:

                                      Howard
      Dolo          Bocanegra              Oneywu           Spector
                               Edu              Bradley
      Holden                                                        Donovan
                                     Dempsey
                                           Jozy

Edu and Bradley in the middle are musts for me. Although I think Bradley will select Feilhaber or Clark ahead of him, which is a massive mistake for me. Feilhaber off the bench for Edu is perfect if we need to push forward for a goal. Holden is going to be someone to watch, he's a great wide-man, deceptive and has the ability to cross on a dime.

If Bradley selects Bornstein into the starting 11, we will lose 4 or 5 goals to none. How he keeps putting him into his side is beyond me. If he wants to push Boca out to the left, that's OK with me then insert DeMerit into the middle with Gooch.

It's going to come down to coaching, and I think that's where my beloved USA fails again.

Can't see the US winning it. A draw maybe, but England are clearly the better team.

This is going to be a very difficult match, they have improved a lot recently. England will win but not easily. They played the Confederation's Cup Final and they did it very well. 2-1 for England

If England play this they can win this one I reckon:

                      Hart
      Johnson Terry Ferdinand Cole
                     Carrick
         Lennon Lampard Cole
                 Gerrard
                       Rooney

Nah, it's only cause he's a senior and the oldest keeper there ;)

England should be able to beat the USA even if the US have improved over the past few years....but so have England! Remember the England v USA friendly two years ago at Wembley. Very comfortable if not spectacular win by England. It will have to take an absolutely rancid performance by the English if they are to lose that one. Absolutely rancid!

Being a Yank on a UK Liverpool forum I am certainly out numbered when it comes to this match.
You may well be surprised.  It may actually be possible that England fans may be in the minority of people on this forum.

Although actually my biggest motivation for this game seems to come from it pissing on Tom and George's chips.
