      Ok, I'll play along.

You said his style was sh*t and that is still nonsense.

I'm not "playing"  at anything. To say the style was "sh*t" wasn't good though, ok.

If you think the way Rafa Benitez had his team's play is the same as the way the lower level clubs set up against us then you either haven't a clue about football or are talking nonsense.

He's great, but he's not at the level of Shankly, Paisley, Dalglish and, I think, Klopp.

Don't be stupid lad, the banner on the kop says otherwise.

I’d rather he didn’t to be honest. It will take the shine off for me a little bit. I just don’t see the motivations or intentions behind it and smacks of desperation to retain relevance.

He’s already done the 2 other PL clubs and the money run in China I struggle to see he’s rationale behind this one.

Always thought of him as not only a world class manager but a man also he could do without this in my eyes.

      It’s easy -

Local to where he lives, loads of money and gets to work with some good players. He’s a Spanish coach at the end of the day.

Plus, let’s not forget that we sacked him.

      I will always love Rafa

To be honest, yes they’re weird bitter cu*ts

But I’m not sure I’d want an ex Everton or Utd manager here so as much as I’d find it funny as F**k I can understand their uncomfortableness with it all

No, there was more nuance than that. I said that anti football is how non contenders play us now, or at least 19/20. I never said we under Rafa were anti sport, but I drew a comparison. Similar approach, not the same thing. We had great players for a start. Mourinho's 2005 Chelsea were safety first but they were still a great team. I didn't like the style of that time, it's just taste for want of a better word.

Rafa was a big student of Rinus Michels, and his way of team building.
It's all laid out in his book: "Team Building: The Road to Success."

Rafa more or less followed Michels' blueprint, and it can easily be seen in the teams development, the players he brought in, and how the team evolved over his tenure.
The techinical development of the team and indvidual players was also there to see.

The 3 basic stages are plain to see for anyone with eyes and a brain.

Rafa makes legendary status for the miracle, but he is not high in the hiearchy for me. He got the club, he was brilliant with Hillsborough and he operated under appalling owners, yet the style was sh*t, cautious and defence first Mourinho like. It might have been different if he got a bigger budget, but his fundamental coaching instincts made for dull sh*te a lot of the time.

Rafa's a legend. End of. We played good football too.

It's very interesting for sure, and some great insights.

Whether it's because of translation, or because of the subject matter, it does read a little like a technical manual though (which in a way, I suppose it is).

It's a few years since I've read it.
I'll have to dredge out my copy and have another read.

My opinion of Rafa will never change, I don't blame him for taking the Everton job but it's gonna end bad I reckon.
He'll have to hit the ground running, those bitters will turn on him in no time at all. I think it's a master stroke he'll get sacked and get a big pay off.
It's funny they're breaking it today but officially on Tuesday, cue the kick offs 😂

Could well be right. Plenty of fireworks at Goodison when the season starts.  :lmao:

He'll have a hell of a lot more support on the red side of the city than the blue. I wish him well. Not too well but perhaps now they might actually win something.

If they do win something, it might give some Everton fans a hear attack: that it took a former Red as their manager for them to win something.

Can’t help but see it as a lose lose situation for Rafa. If it doesn’t work out what a clusterfuck it will be. If he does somehow make them respectable can’t see many Reds being really happy about that.
