Loved the Hitler sketch...very clever.
I have never been in a crowd at a match where these things are played, but on the tv it spoils the atmosphere. I can only imagine how it would be even worse being there. We have been brought up on the sounds of an English football crowd, and there is nothing quite so emotionally arousing to stir your soul and raise the hair on the back of your neck.
When you hear the crowd singing,, clapping, cheering, roaring, it always makes you wish you were there. Living in Australia nowadays, I went back home and was lucky enough to attend a Gillingham play off semi final at priestfield stadium in front of a 10,500 capacity crowd, and the noise at the "Rainham end" will live with me forever as a magical moment in my life. Some might laugh at me finding so much joy at a league 2 play off match, but I have never had the chance to experience the atmosphere at Anfield on match day.
These dreadful vuvezelas make you realise how big a role your hearing plays as well as your eyesight in the process of experiencing a football match. Muting the tv is all you can do to escape the drone, but then there is no atmosphere at all. I find the only compromise is to turn the tv right down to a low volume, just high enough to hear the commentary.
I am already dreaming of the sound of the prem league anthem booming into my house, followed by a live switch to Anfield and the sound of YNWA being sung. That day in August when the volume on my tv remote will be heading from low to maximum. Once again the sounds of football will be restored to normality, and the vuvezelas will be but a distant nightmare.
btw Can someone please make sure Jamie Caraghers kids dont bring em along.
