The Europa League 2010-11: Hands up who's excited?
      Jul 06, 2010 08:08:36 pm
The second qualifying rounds will be held over 2 legs on the 15th and 22nd July.

      http://en.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/matches/season=2011/round=2000125/index.html

The third qualifying round (which we join) will be held on the 29th July and the following Thursday.

I think as long as we don't have to play some of the big boys such as Sporting Fingal, Karpaty, Differdange and Port Talbot then we've got a real chance of progressing.

By the way, the draw date is the 16th July.

I know you've already got it in your diary.

Not excited at all for this, not being a pessimist but i think we are long overdue a domestic cup first.

Hope the FA Cup has our name on it

The level of sarcasm in the first post really made me laugh there!

Not really though about the competition just yet to be honest.

I am refusing to go to any games and that includes the final. for me this cup represent's the huge backwards step we have taken. 2001 I was excited but I can't this time.

I'm more excited about the end of the transfer window to be honest so I can see just how much the gobshites have raped the club during this window.

Living in scotland, seeing teams like Hibs and Dundee United qualify for this competition really does show how backwards this club has went. However, it's another trophy to go for so let's have it.

But yes I guess I am excited for the new season and to see how we play in 2nd rate Europe.

Its such a long competition, we will need alot of depth in our squad next season so it doesn't take too much out of the players

I can't see why the lack of excitement, this is LIVERPOOL F.C. any competition we enter is done so in order to WIN IT not be a bit part ! if some people on here are saying
for me this cup represent's the huge backwards step we have taken. 2001 I was excited but I can't this time.
But surely 2001 WAS exciting as we'd not had that level of success for years previously, then along came 2005 and upped our expectations ! football in general and clubs in particular have their ups and downs, this is our low spot, Europa League is all we can qualify for so except it for now.
Any fan who does not get excited surely is NOT a fan !

Remember seeing the 2001 Europa final in Turkey, we were on holiday there and to be honest I was indifferent about the preceding games but saw it advertised and when we got down to the bar there were a load of people up for it, they were from all over England but the fella in the apartment next to us who was a cocka nee Arsenal fan or so he said, turned up with his wife and cheered everything that went against Liverpool.
He was more like a snidey manUre fan than Arsenal,I've met some Arsenal lads and they're usually ok except when we actually play them.
Well this pr**k was giving it loads and it got to the golden goal stage and we made it 5-4 so I turned around to see the pr**k 25 yards down the road dragging his wife behind him, I shouted "no hard feelings" but I don't think he heard me for the laughter.
The Europa cup took on a different meaning after that, believe or not the so called Arsenal fan wouldn't speak to me for the rest of the holiday!!! Was I worried? Was I F**k.

No Im going to sit in a state of depression all season

Were in the Europa league and thats that. All the moaning and feeling sorry for ourselves wont change that. Sure its not the same waiting for a draw to see if your going to get a Barce or Real or Inter. But the UEFA cup has been good for this club before and might be again

So lets just get on with the draw see who we get then go out and tw*t them and move on and hopefully my red brothers will arrive in Dublin for the final and we can celebrate the trophy Dublin style!!
