I have always thought he was solid and went about his job without to much fuss

If we could get him cheap then yes but certainly not worth 6million

IMO i would take Wayne Bridge in a flash, he's reliable, proven prem experience, English, and can link up well with Joe Cole if Cole plays on the left, we could do a hell of a lot worse than him.

To be honest I'd take Wayne Bridge, now I don't actually rate him that highly, yet he's more of a steady Eddie kind of player rather than a maurading full back like Johnson or Alves per say and to buy these kind of players you need big bucks, which we just haven't got.

So to get a English/International defender who will quietly go about his business, without being spectacular makes perfect sense to me, Ideally I'd rather have Warnock, however I do not know how far our transfer budget extends and that fact that it appears we are selling players to fund deals, does not inspire me to believe there is a big budget, so if the lad is a target lets get him in as he can not be any worse than Insua on last season's showings.

I'd have him with Darby as a backup. He's a solid defender and shouldn't cost too much. Darby impressed me yesterday, i think he'll be good enough at left back.

Not too sure about this one, yes he's a decent player and we would welcome him, but can anyone see us buying two top class established ENGLISH players in 1 season?

With Joe Cole arriving and Wayne Bridge linked to us... wonder if this Chelsea-ish thing going on at the club anything to do with Martin "Chelsea-fan" Broughton.

To be honest I don't think any one can read too much into Bridges form he showed for shitty last season, can you imagine the personal termoil and all the emotion that must have stirred up seeing his private life played out in front of the worlds media.

Poor c**t must have ate him alive, I know it would me in the same situation.

I don't think he should be our numero uno LB.There are definitely much better defenders out there in the form of Taiwo,Warnock,Bale and Fucile who really caught the eye in WC playing for Uraguay so if we can get either of them,it would be a great signing.

Taiwo is close to completing a move to Atletico Madrid, Bale would be out of our price range, Warnock may be a possibility now Rafa has left both with Warnock himself and O'Neill, Fucile, I'm not convinced on buying players on the back of a good World Cup, remember Salif Daio & El Hadgi the Radgie Diouf.

Bridge is certainly looking like an option right now...

Surprised we've not heard that Coentrao lad being linked everywhere.

I always have been a fan of Bridge and wouldn't mind him coming to Liverpool but for me it depends on the price. I don't like the idea of paying over the odds for a 30 year old who is coming off one of his poorer seasons with Citeh. I would much rather him than Paul Konchesky who is a year younger but isn't as experienced or talented.

Ya agree Paul, he has been sh*te with City and to be honest was fairly poor with Chelsea as well, seemed happy to sit on the bench and pick up his large wages.

If you were buying him for any more than £3 million you'd be overpaying.
