The majority of people at Everton's matches may well be scousers, but I think that the majority of people in Merseyside support Liverpool.  How many people were at that home-coming of the European cup last season - getting towards a million... They can't all have come from everywhere but Merseyside.

The problem is that Liverpool are a worldwide club brand and this makes it a lot harder for local people to get tickets.  Mid-week games such as those European nights have a much higher level of local supporters

In summary Sinama is talking out his arse.  (Oh and I went to school in Huyton)

;D fsp shut up silly boy

this is the 2nd time he's said something that'll have Liverpool fc taking notice of him other than what he is or is not doing whilst on loan on the football field, I'd suggest he keeps his god shut and starts concentrating on his football, unless of course he's talking himself into a move, in which case talk away lad, you'll not be missed

Its true, the majority of people in Liverpool support Everton. Liverpool have a much larger global fan base but if you go in to most pubs in Liverpool you will always find a lot more blue than red. (From WDerby)

I agree with Koolkidda; Everton is the more parochial club in terms of the footprint of its support. In other words, most of their support is made up from people within the city because they are so little known outside of it. A bit like Tranmere Rovers, I suppose.

Most of Liverpool's suport come from around the world compared to the numbers within the city. The Reds are so well-known world-wide because of their exploits around the globe.

Within the city itself however, I think the city is RED by 60% and blue by 40%.

Just why Flo-Po decided to say the things he did, I can only wonder at it. He's wrong, simple really; a bit like Everton supporters, I suppose !!

I think in the city its Blue 60% and Red 40%.....as you go to Merseyside as a whole i think its 50-50....and then the north-west it shifts to 70% red.

Liverpool have more worldwide support definetely.

One million at Liverpool homecoming with European Cup
      Reply #9: Feb 12, 2006 05:03:43 pm
Anyone who believes that figure is utterly stupid.

There simply aren't one million people in Liverpool - fact. Even if there were one million people residing in Liverpool, every man, woman, child, sick, infirm, elderly and Evertonian would have to have been out on the street that night.

Also that night I don't remember the roads into Liverpool being any more congested than they normally are.

One million - ask yourselves is that really likely?

but i had to chuckle at the Liverpool player's comment.....(admittedly he's at Blackburn)

I think for that comment alone....we (everton) should sign him

Maybe people living in Outer Mongolia support Tranmere? Do you have any evidence to suggest otherwise? Does drinking Carlsberg make you more of a Lpool fan? I suggested to the club a few years ago that Kenny Dalgleish should be made an ambassador of the club and maybe we could set up a Liverppol consulate in foreign cities such as Thailand and Oslo. We have tons of supporters in these cities (plus China) so why not establish embassies there?

I loved the quote the quote a few days after the "homecoming" which read - Liverpool arrived home to be cheered by 750,000 fans who go the game week in week out pmsl - Anfields attendance must of been increased significantly on the sly  ;)

Is this the same Everton who hardly ever have a sell out? Is this the same Everton who sell half season tickets? FFS I live in Huyton and I can honestly say there is more reds around here than blues.

I still cant believe they can get a season ticket half way through the season!!! They have real hardcore supporters.

So true mate. I had to wait 7 years for a season ticket. I think the list is now closer to 15 years. We need that new ground fast.
