Negotiations are still on going by the way!! just been taken off.Aurelio on.
      Which one would you want?

      Aurelio everytime!

I would rather play Agger out of position than have Insua on the pitch!

He gets turned inside-out & embarrased almost every single game!

I'm assuming you're in full-blown, sarcastic mode today euro'?

I have no intentions falling out with a fellow Red but it appears to me that you were happy to skulk in the shadows, running with the fox until the time was right to hunt with the hounds.

      Answer 1. No.

      Answer 2.  Qualify that.
I'd be very interested in what you mean.
It seems to me Im getting under your skin.
      Oh well.
No one ever kicks out at a dead dog. Methinks it time for a EuroRed quote compilation again.

PS Deschamps was my choice not Woy but Im backing him.
PPS. I was throwing tomatoes at Benitez from early this year ... and boy didnt I know it off this forum for speaking my mind.

I wouldn't say I'm gutted that Aurelio has resigned, what I am gutted about though, is that this signing shows the direction our club is  headed.

We're becoming stale, when we needed to bring in two left backs, we instead re-signed one who had turned down a previous contract, and hardly played last season, and couldn't find another club after leaving us. Aurelio is good back up, if he can stay fit (gamble in itself).

For all the criticism of Rafa and what he did in the transfer market, we are certainly signing up all the players he lined up, or in this case, signed and let go.

Welcome home Fabio. When injury free he is one of the best left backs in the League. When he left it got me thinking about an interview that happened in the 08-09 season, it was a Football Focus interview with Gerrard. When Gerrard was asked who was the most technically gifted player at Liverpool, he said, "Fabio Aurelio". I remember it clear as day.

The reason i remembered it was because somebody said that Gerrard had said it was Lucas!!  :lmao: :lmao:

I almost pissed my pants when i read it, can't remember which thread it was, but no evidence of the interview was ever forthcoming.

Stay injury free Fabio, there are going to be a few medals round your neck if you fill your quota this season mate.

Aurelio when fully fit and with a few games under his belt is a really good solid left back and I for one am DElighted that he has re signed!

Slightly off topic. I'm not trying to be 'crooked' or funny btw; i've been thinking about free "transfers" and was wondering:

Can it really be called a "transfer if we sign a player on a free? I understand that, sometimes, players are 'let go' on a free due to long service but if a player is out of contract; who are we actually transferring him (his contract) from?

Was Joe Cole, for example, transferred from Chelsea to Liverpool? If so; was Fabio, in effect, transferred from Liverpool to Liverpool?  :-\

Just curious and sorry for wandering off topic.

Anyhow - get to work you Aussie Doctors.....

A bit surreal yesterday, no left backs and then against BMG our two 'old' left backs reappear. Still its good to have him back.

Okay. It's just that previously you slated Benitez saying:

..and you pointed to the fact that:

Would that not leave the the signing of Fabio (27 and injury free), in your already voiced opinion, as being "utter rubbish"?

Now, given that fact; how come (now that Benitez is gone) the re-signing of Aurelio (31 and injury prone) is "top news"?

Like I stated earlier......"let's be honest here - if he had accepted the contract, offered to him earlier this year, he would have still been a Red and we would have still been looking for one and probably two left-backs anyhow. For that reason and that reason alone I'm sorry but I can't share in the excitement and optimism."

Listen I'll leave it at that - this thread (or rather the hypocrisy on display in this thread) is getting on my tits.  >:D

;D not sure what my comments about Benitez taking us any further have to do with it?

All ive said is that aurelio isnt a bad re-signing compared to what we are linked with, and coupled with the fact we are doubtful to get any money from transfers im quite happy to have him.

If he stays fit he is a good player, you dig far too deep.

To be honest 'man, i don't dig too deep at all. I do read most posts with interest and when i come across opinion that begs a second glance - such as yours; when you, crassly, suggested that Benitez had only signed two good players (none of them Fabio) - then i tend to remember it. That's all.

I suppose, if i wanted to, it wouldn't be too hard to dig and 'publish' you thoughts, pre-Roy, on Aurelio but it's no big deal. Everyone is entitled to change their stance on a subject so i'll ignore what were only your second and third posts, after all.

      ";D" my F***ing arse!  ;D

My dig at the players he shipped in and out was a vague list and pure annoyance, that my opinion, i havnt changed my stance and i dont have to justify myself to you.

My comments on aurelio stand, he is better than what we have been linked with and ok on a free/re-sign with no money.

A 31 year old injury prone fullback and 5m on an 18 year old defender and Roy is the new Messiah!

Don't want to use the R-word but Rafa would be thrown to the lions by now.

Was in a pub when the story "broke" on Sky Sports News.
Me and my mate were a little confused and beer hadn't helped!

So with Insua playing yesterday, are we still looking for a LB or not?

IMO we need a good one who is less injury prone than Fabio and better at defending than Insua.
