finished 3rd in their group mate, behind Aris (the team City were playing) and Bayer Leverkusen.

      Shocker!

Some cracking teams left in the last 16, we'll need to up our game to get further, although I expect us to have Carroll and Gerrard up and running for the next round.

I thought Lille were still in the tourney? Good thing they ain't.

      Villareal
      City
      Porto

I think they are the 3 hardest teams currently in the cup, I didn't count us.

Is it a perspective thing, or does the scoreboard look like it's about to fall over?

I'd be shocked if the winner of us v. city doesn't go on to win this competition.

Anyone know what happens if we win this competition? We would be in it next year, but would England receive an additional place? Or would one spot have to be withdrawn? It'd be sly on Birmingham to take their spot away.

I'd love for us to win the EL and take the Chavs spot for finishing in 5th ;D

Nilmar scored twice against Leverkusen... What a great striker he is, shame he's had some big problems with injury during his career.

Yeah, Villareal are serious contenders to win this if Nilmar stays fit.

Will be watching Ajax-Spartak Moscow on tv, and Twente-Zenit on a stream simultaniously in a bit.

I would like to see Leverkusen going through as I think their side is quite exciting to watch, but so is Villarreal to be fair, and I'm a big fan of Nilmar, he scored the most beautiful goal I've ever seen in a stadium.

And look who scored against City: Shevchenko! :D
Totally forgot he went back do Kiev, was a wonderful striker on his best years.

      Ajax 0-1 Spartak Moscow
      Goal by Alex.

Really undeserved though. Ajax have been alot better, and have had so many chances. I guess it's their own fault for not making them.

      Twente 2-0 Zenit
      Goal by Landzaat.

Watched the VT of Leverkusen 2-3 Villarreal last night. Both teams pass the ball very well so it was a very good game of football.

I love how Leverkusen start passing the ball from defense and they all go up the field together, with Rolfes and Vidal being two very attack-minded midfielders. It's a shame how disorganized their defense was though, partially because there isn't enough protection, all 3 goals conceded could of been avoided with a little bit more of organization. Renato Augusto is in great form too, a joy to watch.
