Joe Cole: "I'm Right At Home Here"

Cole: I feel at home here

Joe Cole has revealed how the city of Liverpool is already starting to feel like home - even though it's less than three weeks since he moved north.

The Londoner had spent his entire career in the capital prior to moving to Anfield on a four-year deal last month.

Cole acknowledges it would have been easy to remain in London, but insists he was determined to test himself by trying to help Roy Hodgson's Anfield era get off to a successful start.

"A lot has been made of me signing for Liverpool and leaving London for the first time," he told LFC Weekly. "I've been very lucky to spend my career in my home city close to all my family and friends.

"In some ways, it has made everything that bit more comfortable and easier for me. I could have stayed in London until I retired but I needed to test myself.

"That in itself is a big challenge for me. It took me a long time to prove to people that I was a hard worker as well as someone who can be skilful or provide a pass.

"I want everybody at Liverpool to see that I will graft for the team and give everything that is physically possible to make the club successful again."

Cole's arrival at Anfield has been greeted by a jubilant reaction from supporters, who treated the England star to a standing ovation after his home debut against FK Rabotnicki on Thursday.

He added: "The reception has blown me away. The people up here have been so welcoming to me and my family. Scousers will do anything for you.

"Liverpool feels like home already, even though I've only been here for five minutes. Wherever I walk, people just want to say hello and wish me well.

"You get that sometimes in London, but because it is a much bigger city, you can sometimes get lost. That has its advantages sometimes - when things aren't going well for the team - because you can escape.

"Every side in London has a distinct identity, but Liverpool is like a separate country to the rest of England. I don't think there is a club in the whole world where there's a connection with a city like Liverpool and the people."

There's only one place in the world where he would feel so welcome and that's Anfield. I am so looking forward to seeing him combine with Stevie and Nando etc...

Cant wait to see him, Torres and Gerrard thriving off each other.  Hopefully we will make many more new signings feel right at home too xxxxx:action-smiley-065: xxxxx:action-smiley-065: xxxxx:action-smiley-065:.

This might be an aside, but Purslow was supposed to be in Spain negotiating for a player's transfer.  DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHO THAT WAS?  I thought LB Antonio Lopez (the dreamer in me hopes for Aguero).

Just echoing what Torres has said a thousand times before about how welcome he's made to feel in Liverpool, Nice one.

A player that appreciates playing for the best club in the world unlike Riera and Mascherano. I think more than anything else though, he appreciates the chance to play for such a great club after Ancelotti lost faith in him after coming back from injury last season. Great to have you here Joe, play consistently as good as you did against Rabotnicki and you will help us win trophies!

Ive always admired Joe Cole from the sidelines. He is a special talent and there are not many of those about. He always spoke highly of the club and supporters over the years and it was clear he had great respect for the club. Im still pinching myself that Roy got him. Joe Cole has the ability to take the player of the year award in this country, he is that good. And if that happened we are going to do very well indeed. Good luck Joey lad !!

In light of the takeover saga, he'll issue a statement denying all of this and say he wants to go back to London.

I have been on holiday so unfortuntaley missed both Europa League qualidiers. Judging by what the papers i read have said, he played really well in both, especially the second leg. Always liked Joe and i am delighted to have him.
