Not sure what we can read in to the game with the chopping and changing and lack of first teamers.
Anything I do say will be written down and given to me as evidence later in the season by someone anyway...
Ok - bollocks to it...
Pennant played well but the standard of the opposition doesn't tell us much. Idrizaj took his goals well. Definitely deserves some action at least maybe League Cup games when we play the likes of these sides in the early rounds. Promising start for the player. We haven't had too many hat-trick heroes at any level of competition in the past few years.
Sissoko. Still can't pass. Hope it's early days. He's got the running but some woeful distribution.
Arbeola I thought was okay, Martin Hanson had a nightmare as keeper in the second half. Otherwise can't read too much in to it. Anybody else pick out any notable performances - good and bad?
A more interesting test will be next week when some more senior players are likely to figure. Certainly if Rafa want's to give Torres his debut in this country it will have to be next week as I assume that most of the first team will have gone to Asia before the Peterborough game...
I'd agree with nearly everything you say there JD, apart from maybe Sissoko. Thought he passed the ball slightly better than he usually does on a few occasions, but compare him to the likes of Gerrard and Alonso, then he's got a lot of catching up in that department. Done his job well at breaking things up as usual though.
Paletta I'm afraid to say, once again looked sleepy. I'm beginning to wonder whether he's ever gonna improve. Pennat was really good. Was impressed with his tracking back duty and he was willing to take people on. Put some nice crosses in, which made a few goals. Thing is though, as it's been said, the standard of the opposition wasn't much to go by.
Decent first half, some nice attacking play. Second half wasn'y much to write home about.
I'm tired and I'm off to get drunk!
