Liverpool are considering making a move for highly rated midfielder Mario Bolatti, currently under contract with Fiorentina, claims Argentinian newspaper Ole.


Reds boss Roy Hodgson sees the 25-year-old Bolatti as the perfect replacement for Javier Mascherano.

Bolatti started his professional career with Belgrano and also played for Porto and Huracan before joining Fiorentina in January 2010.

The Argentinian international initially appeared to be on his way to River Plate on a one-year loan deal, but Liverpool's interest could very well convince Bolatti to stay in Europe after all.

IF Mash goes i really dont think we need another midfielder.

Its pretty obvious to everyone that the 2 things we lack are a back up LB and more importantly a decent Striker who can cope with the pace of the EPL

I read Balotelli at first too! Don't really know anything about Bolatti.

Possibly, but Roy has been quite clear in stating that Poulsen isn't a replacement for Masch, but more an addition in depth. Whether that's true or not, I don't know, but if it is and Masch does go then maybe they'll get another player to replace him.

Right now the main concern is the cover for Torres or his sidekick, not another midefielder.

I don't think Masch is going, so no need for this guy!
