      Your LFC Rituals
      Aug 30, 2010 05:07:57 pm
Just thought I'd feed this out to the die hard fans here:

It would be interesting to establish if any fans have a ritual that they maybe perform before, after a match or maybe everyday. We could see funny, bizzare, cute and possibly downright disturbing antics peformed possibly:

Drinking out an LFC cup at all times
Wearing the same colour shirts as the team are playing in
      Ringing a mate before K.O.
Permanent shrines which must remain untouched
      Lucky underwear
      etc,etc,etc.

Will be interesting to see the feedback on this one:-

I am boring in this respect, just got to buy all the shirts every season and wear any of them during a match whether they are on TV and obviously at Anfield (Anfield consists of full battle dress, red and white trainers, lfc top, scarf, hat in winter, shankly tracksuit top; only thing that was not red or white was the jeans and hair!

Whenever we play I wear my Liverpool top and my LFC bracelet that my step-daughter made for me with red, white and yellow beads and five stars :) And just before the match, I play 'Fields of Anfield Road'

Not superstitions, just my own little rituals.

Don't really have any rituals apart from wearing a Liverpool shirt whenever we play. There is this one pub that I go to though, where I must've watched 20+ LFC games in, and I've never seen us win in there! Got to stop going there.

Having had a bad run of games last year which every game I went to we drew or lost, started tapping the back of the legs of Shankley's statue outside the club shop on the way in to the ground. First time it worked - so tapped him back on the way out.

Done it every game since, and we haven't lost yet !

match day I don't really have a ritual, sometimes I wear my LFC slippers (cos its usually 4am when I go turn the telly on to watch) or shorts but I'll always tell myself not to get superstitious and all that. I do always wear a Liverpool pendant around my neck though so I guess I've always got something.

Havent worn a shirt to the game or even at home if watching on tv for years.

I used to when younger until I wore shirt to Utd home back in the 90's ,they beat us 3-1 with Pallister scoring two, after that I always refused until last season when my mate said its a load of bollocks etc.... so wore my shirt for the first time to the Villa home game and look what happened there  :f_wah:

Really?? Don't wear that shirt never again then!  ;D (I think you're already doing this)

I tend to wear the same colour shirt as the team are playing in.

Also I have this thing (when I'm at home) where if we badly need a goal, I go outside for a cigarette and watch the match through the window. It tends to work most of the time. :) When it was 2-3 in the Champions League Final 2005 and Alonso stepped forward for the penalty, I went outside. :) In 2008-09 during the 4-4 draw with Arsenal I went outside 4 times and we scored 3 goals.

I have a few that stopped working this season for some reason.

I avoided wearing a certain pair of shorts after we always seemed to lose when I was wearing them.

I always have foreign commentary on when watching a stream (which is good as most english comms are horseshit anti-red bile anyway)

If we went behind, I'd pick up my guitar and start playing songs by Iggy and the Stooges (quite raw and high tempo, I figured in some kind of Uri Geller way it would inspire the team  :D) and often we would come back and equalise or win.  Used to work 9 times out of 10.

      These days, nothing works  ???

I haven't got one really at the moment apart from wearing a shirt. Been trying to change it up to find something that works again.

Might go back to the pints of Guinness while i watch though. Went away from that due to it making me useless for the rest of the day a lot of the time (being that i watch games at 5-7am most of the time) :D

Have to wear a Liverpool shirt and a Red/white hoody or jacket. Same scarf all the time. Must always have a flag with me doesn;t feel right without it. Only on a cane for big games and in the pocket for every other game and get it out when we score.

I've got an old LFC red sweater, doing well this season, have to wear that. Touch the sign on the way downstairs, if I'm out it's on me phone. Have me old white scarf handy, been all round the world with me.

Gutted the one time I wore me Shankly top we got beat, have to be brave and give it another go.  :)

I couldn't understand it either, I was like, "but I've got me best top on"  :f_wah:

Have to chase the missus out the room as well, (she doesn't have a good record)

For years as a kid I had to get their as the gates opended to get my spot no way could I wait until just before 3pm ( we used to play on Saturdays at 3pm then).
Recently over the past few years when ever we needed a goal and the match was on tele i would turn over the channel for a few minutes to see if we could score and it worked for quite a while. Hasnt worked this season though.

The majority of the games are played real early in the US due to the time difference.  I tend to watch online with a good cup of Coffee and breakfast. a few weeks back I went to IHOP got a stack of pancakes, 2 sides of bacon and a giant cup of coffee to go and watched it on my laptop.   That was a good morning.

To turn Fanzone on when Andy Gray is commentating.

I went to a 'sports' bar in Glasgow to watch the Wolves game, only been there once before and we won away from home then as well (Villa away last year, Torres last minute winner). Was sitting in the same seat as well I think, so I'll be back there for our next away game to see what luck we get.

Wake up at least an hour and a half before kickoff (even if it's at 7:45 in the morning) and I have a system with what shirt I wear: If we won our last match, I wear the same shirt as worn for that one; if we didn't win our last match, I wear another LFC shirt.

      Same.

Wear the same jersey if we win, switch if not!

If I'm at home I always wear a Liverpool shirt, and a Liverpool scarf is either around my neck or on the coffee table for about an hour before the game till after, my cats are always outside, mainly 'cos they don't like the racket I make  ;)  (It's been known to be that bad that my neighbours have known the score just from hearing me :o  thankfully they're Liverpool supporters too ;D.  I won't leave the room to get a drink, so make sure I have enough in front of me to last the half, and always make sure that I go to the loo before hand too. If it goes to extra time and penalties, I stand up, pacing, the whole time, oh, and I pray a lot.

Usually an LFC kit when I am at the pub. Sometimes one more special for special games (Silver kit 2008/09 when away at old trafford, Reebok 2005 when playing an european cup, etc...)

Wake up between 4-7 AM on the weekend. If I was on a bender the night before, get a bottle of water and make sure I leave to bathroom door open.

If not? Get a bottle of water and make sure I leave the bathroom door open (although this was more prevalent in the Hodgson days).

Before every Liverpool premier league game, I take the snake out, in a contained space. Not sure why really ;D

I'm quite a ritual person, oh and I can't forget my lucky Liverpool socks. Done wonders for me so far. Got em for myself on my birthday, wore them every game and so far, 2 games, 2 wins.

Try to wear one of my pairs of LFC socks every day...which is tough as long socks with shorts living in LA can be quite a sweaty business!
Every game I watch I wear my socks and my scarf (from 1979). I just don't believe that unless its being worn then I am not being the 12th man.
Its a frickin religion loving this institution!

When I was younger I used to wear every single Liverpool shirt I had and 2 scarves.  I recall doing that for the game against manure where we drew 3-3 I didn't have sky sports back then so listened to the whole game on the radio with 6 shirts on and 2 scarves!  I'm not superstitious these days although now I never wear a shirt when I go to the games

Don't have any ritual or superstitious-like stuff but back a few years ago, I would always bring my father's chair to a few feet away from the TV and sit on that during the 2:30 am Champions League games.

I always watch Liverpool on the TV in my front room as they never seem to win when I watch it on the other TV in my house.

If I'm watching the game on the telly I have to sit on the floor, leaning back against the couch, sometimes with the luxury of a cushion to sit on.  I end up with a numb arse, but it worked in Istanbul didn't it?

Doesn't work when I go to Anfield though.
