      An apology
      Jul 04, 2007 08:54:48 pm

      I have slated Rick Parry and also doubted Mr's Hicks and Gillette on this forum but today I owe an apology.

      We clearly are now investing in the top players and I wish that we invest heavily still in another top striker (Tevez!).

      When the take-over first came about we were supposed to have a transfer kitty of over 100 million.

      I think we all accepted that this was press speculation but when you consider that Rafa has made a lot of noise and publicly stated how unhappy he was I think he has the new owners on side.

      I strongly believe that if Rafa wants to spend another 20  million then the cash will be available and that he also evens the weekly wage by letting some other players go.

      We have invested heavily in youth players from across the nation which again indicates we are as keen to develope as we are to sign top rate players.

      I am sure you agree that the future is very exciting and I for one accept now that we are moving in the right direction.

      I should reply to this...but I can't help it!

      Xabi1309 - why do you want Tevez to sign?

      Do we need him now...seeing as we have:

      Torres, Kuyt, Crouch and Voronin ?

      WHY ARE PEOPLE FORGETTING ABOUT THE DIRK!

      Kuyt will be even better this year and big crouch deserves another season.
      We still need a couple of players. Another centre half and a winger.

      If you accept that Bellamy will be sold and Voronin is likely to be a squad player then this is why we will need Tevez

      Torres        Kuyt        Tevez       Crouch

      I am mindfull that we already have a thread for Tevez already so ........

      I didn't think they would spend big on 1 player but I'm glad they proved me wrong and hope they do it again hopefully this season.

      To be honest I'm not too fussed if we get Tevez, wouldn't mind him, of course, I just DONT want the Manc scum to get him.

      Agreed Eddie, where are all the doubters? come on you know who you are ;D  "Why aren't we spending,we haven't got any money, those yanks are useless!" There has been more moaning on here than a German porn film lately but now suddenly Torres has signed all is rosy again.In future don't believe everything you read in the papers, in fact don't believe anything you hear or read just wait till the signing is stood on the pitch with Rafa and then you will know it's true.
      Xabi1309 your a top fella, as it takes one to come on here and say "i might have got that wrong" well in mate. ;)

      I also agree that we will see the real Dirk next season and their is no need to be chasing a player like Tevez who seems to have a similar style to Torres, the money can be spent in more useful areas and i for one will be very interested to see how the Manc's can accommodate him if he ends up at Castle Greyskull.

      Well played Xabi1309, takes balls to do what you've did!

      I'd like to see a few more people come on and add their apologies too though! The papers are there to stir things up and I hope that people reaslise this off the back of the past few weeks!

      Read them, by all means but do not take their opinions to heart and jump on the 'Hate All New Owners' bandwagon!

      Hate to throw a big enormous spanner in the works.... but have the board really put their hands that deep in to their pockets?

      Torres = £20 million.

      Garcia = £3 million
      Pongo = £2.5-£3 million
      Cisse = should be £6 million
      Probably Bellamy will now have go - possibly between £8 and £10 million.

      That doesn't look like the board have gone out on a big spending spree.  In fact if we don't go out and do some more business then they will probably be banking some profit from last season's Champions League run...!

      I want another £30 million on a couple of wingers.

      I make no apology for my views, I still think Torres is overrated and I think for 20 million odd quid he cant have this time to settle bollox. If I make an apology it will be if Torres gets a hat trick in the first game against Villa or scores a brace against the Chavs, then I will apologise and accept that I was wrong. In my view he is Morientes in the making another spainish Eric, but like I have emphasized on more than one occasion if he wears the red shirt then he will have my support. I also think Tevez would have been a good signing but it looks like we have missed out he will be going to the scum when they can sort out this bollox over who gets the money for him. But we do need the wingers that is a must now a most defo must.

      The original apology was made as the poster had doubted whether Hicks & Gillett would back us in the transfer market. Whatever you think of the player, we have recieved the backing to break our record fee paid.

      I think torres will need time to settle even if he is our record signing, jesus even Peter Beardsley, when he signed (a record signing at 1.7 million at the time) didn't really start producing until the october, early november.

      Hopefully Kuyt will score more this season, plus as someone else has said in another thread the signing of torres may just take the pressure off Voronin

      So far I think Rafa has set about sorting the youth system, you only have to look at the number of youth signings we've made, plus bolstering areas in the first team squad - ie hopefully find a defender (full back) and possibly a winger.

      BTW I think the real apology should of been I apologise for listening to the permanent sh*te on tv and in the press and now realise that Don Rafa will not be bossed by those on tv and in the press and will only sign the players he wants when the time is right.

      On his goatee, do you reckon he's been watchin carlito's way

      Good point about the pressure being off Voronin, I've never really thought about it that way! The youth signings made are a good sign that we're approaching things in a similar manner to Arsenal and it will pay off in a few years time!

      And listening to the press is always a good sign of a bandwagon tosser! Posts from people such as this usually get bypassed!

      On the goatee, I think he looks like Max out of Phoenix Nights ;D
