Torres and Voronin linked up really well yesterday - I think they're gonna cause opposition some real trouble this season    Both looking top class and right at home in the Red shirt  ;D

Some people are well and truely eating humble pies on this topic!

Too me he seems a class act...great control, intelligent, reads the game, good positioning, link up play and an eye for goal - could be the player of the season.  Why not!

Completely agree with you on this.
I don't like to judge a player until I've seen him play a few games in the very least.
Why people want to judge him before he has kicked a ball for the Red men is beyond me.
Hope he continues to impress, as he is showing fantastic promise.

a thought he had a good game against the makems linked the play well scored a goal set 1 up and worked hard for the team.a think with a few more games together him and torres will form a  good strike force. :)

He has certainly proved that over the last few weeks, showing more awareness and sharpness than Kuyt in recent games. While maybe not being in the same class as Torres but he is definitely worth more than a free transfer...great buy. He got himself in good positions and worked hard. Between he and El Nino they should have wrapped it up sooner but, this time, unlike so many times in past seasons, we didn't go on to regret those misses. It might be too early to tell, but the signs are there that we are getting closer to where we want to be...

For me, Voronin is certainly good enough...

Two very deep and interesting thoughts there.  :D

I think the majority of us think Voronin on a free, is easily good enough for us by now. As MrTommo said earlier, I can't say anything about a player who I haven't seen kick a ball. I like to see them have a few games first before I get any indication. So anyone to have had a bad view of him earlier is ridiculous.

He certainly has a team mentality and a will to be successful - I remember he was quoted as saying he wasn't prepared to come to us and warm the bench? He's more than proved that in his first few games.
One thing that I like about him is that he's not scared to have a shot from outside the box. He believes he can score. Coming to a club as big as us and having that natural belief is brilliant to see.

Still early days but it doesn't need saying that hopefully he can improve to his great start and make himself very hard to leave out of the selected team sheet.

Well JD I have to hold my hand up and say I doubted the lad on his scoring stats even though I had not seen him play. You have to agree the stats were no better than Robbies later form.  I am glad however that I'm currently being proved wrong and I only hope he can continue with his current glowing performances. Good grafter and sensible use of the ball. Very alert with whats going on around him all the time. Looking like a great buy at the moment, long may it continue. Well done Andriy !!

      Give Voronin a break
Come on guys, I know I've even criticised him of late but I'd never chant bad songs about him, or even worse say "the perfect outcome, he scores and then gets injured".

At the end of the day, whoever puts on that red shirt we must support - end off! He was misjudged in his interview, I was wrong to bite at that but at least I gave him a bit of credit since he made it clear about that interview.

He might not be the best striker we've got, but he does put in 100% so to mock him, not fair is it? Kuyt ain't exactly any better...

Even though I want Voronin to go in the summer, at least support him while he's here.

Not entirely sure this warrants a new thread, but well said mate.

Voronin is sh*te, we all know that. But it's not his fault he's not good enough for us and he gives it his all when he plays. I as much as anyone want him to go in the summer (who knows, I might even join the Rafa out brigade if he doesn't ;D) but on the odd occassions he does play he should have the support of every fan.

Where exactly would you like us to give him a break? Above or below the ankle?

Seriously, people at the match get behind EVERY player in a red shirt.  That's what we do.

However, this forum is akin to the pub, and in it we all freely admit that Voronin is sh*te, not up to Liverpool standard and no matter how many 'breaks' we give him this will always be a fact.

      It's banter... jeez.

We sing Voro songs at the branch... but we want him to win every tackle and score every chance ....when he actually plays.

Come on get your humour in gear peeps.

I would defend Voro if any one from another team had a pop at him... but on here, jeez (again).. let's get a grip.

Take banter away from footy... and you've taken half the great game away IMHO.

      Voronin ...got one in.... yipeeeeeeeeeee!!!

He might not be good enough, but shock horror! He scores! And he showed the commitment to put his leg in and hurt himself in doing so.

Is he worthy of a start next Saturday with the game against Chelsea coming up afterwards?  :o

Found this on Wikipedia...possibly the most irreputable source, but it would be very good if true.

Arshavin is said to be rumoured to sign for Liverpool FC iin the summer transfer window of 08' in a swap deal involving Ukraine forward Andrei Voronin

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrei_Arshavin

Haven't seen him play, but sounds promising and has to be an upgrade on Voronin...

"In 2000 he was included in Zenit squad. He played in various positions on the field, starting as a right midfielder, then as an attacking midfielder and finally adopted second striker's role playing on a flank or behind a target man. He won the Russian Premier League Award for the player of the season largely because of his ability play well as a winger, playmaker and as a striker."

Sounds like he could play as the striker, plus anywhere in the '3'.

-goes and downloads some zenit games-

No I think you're the only one there mate, as Lil Cisse said you shouldn't feel like that about any of our polayers really.

I still don't see what exactly he's done to put some poeples noses so far out of place. Ok he's not good enough for us, but he's always tried to make up for what he lacks in talent with hard work. It's not his fault that even hard work won't make up for his lack of talent, he'll be gone in a couple of months but he really doesn't deserve some of the comments made about him.
