Not happy with the middle two but come on lads, we easily have the talent to overcome Birmingham, even if the main point of creation like to pass it sideways and back. Gerrard will have to work a lot again to build the play but im really excited for this one, though it may turn out to be another 1-0 bore like against WBA.
      Come on lads!

No real need for negativity guys. Maxi will want to impress so he can start ahead of Kuyt. And Jova will sure want to make up for his recent performances.

Torres is back to fitness and Gerrard is fighting like a berserk.

Babel is awesome when subbed in late. And Pacheco & Meireles might add to the creativity.

Lucas & Poulsen aren't the whole world. All they'll need to do is help stop the attacks and then pass it to either Jova or Maxi.

If it allows for Johnson and Konchesky to get forward, it could work out better then we think. We have a LB now that can get up and down the field, instead of Agger out of position.

Anywho, it's a tough place to win... here's to hoping for all 3 points!

For fucks sake why the F**k is he playing Gerrard behind the striker and Lucas and Poulsen in midfield would have liked to have seen Lucas and Gerrard in centre midfield with Pacheco in the hole.

Ohh god. Lucas and Poulsen? Maybe one of them but not both. Not keen on Jova starting either.

Lets keep it solid in the first half and win it in the second when we hopefully would have Pacheco and Raul on the pitch.Anyways what wrong has Dagger done to be out of the team more so since Skrtel hasn't really been a rock at the back.

Not plenty, the only other option was basically, Babel for Poulsen, pushing Gerrard back into midfield and then one of Jovanovic or Babel behind Torres, the other on the wing.  I'd rather he did that, but it is not like he had 'plenty' of options.  Still think Pacheco is too young to start.

Think Roy maybe expected Zigic to start for Brum? Skrtel is better in the air?

Either way, Zigic has not started and I really prefer Agger to Skrtel.

Cole banned, Kuyt injured, Meireles not fit... not a lot of options.

Well at least Maxi is starting but why not go at them with this:
                               Lucas     Gerrard

      Maxi                                              Babel
                                     Pacheco
                                      Torres

                                      Torres

Because Pacheco is 19, because he is 5ft 6 against big, hard defenders?
Swap him for Jovanovic and you've got a point - though we'd be playing Stevie slightly out of his best position.

really dissapointed with the team sheet, not only am i dissapointed to see lucas and poulsen in centre midfield but also id rather see agger in centre back.on another note its probably the strongest bench weve had in awhile. cmon you redmen.

Didn't know he played, but he had no pre-season games at all for Porto, maybe he is tired then? No pre-season then two games? not sure.  I trust that Roy would have played him if he was ready, I can't imagine him favouring Poulsen.

I hope what happens is this:

      - When attacking, the middle two take a defensive position and let the fullbacks bomb on.
      - At the same time, the wingers drift inside and take up the position that the middle two would usually take up.

This not only confuses the fans (us & Birmingham) but also the opposition. And it makes sense.
