After missing out to Manchester United on the signing of Lou Macari, Shankly sent a note round to his players saying he had only wanted him for the reserve team anyway

Wow you cant beat nostalgia. Surprised he never picked himself to play he still thought he had it. Beautiful memories only Arsenal 71 was a bad one. Will we see his like again no never ,every player every supporter would have run through brick walls for him. I thought he looked as though he was tired at the Charity shield in 74 before his retirement. Wish the crowd would sing his name more. Its were it all began.
