What the F**k is going on with it? Every other day there's something new putting people off going. Also saw quite a few of the bigger athletes not going.

And when does it actually get under way?

Only briefly read about it and I think it's something to do with the athletes not feeling safe enough to stay in some building which is meant for the athletes to stay. Also probably due to security reasons and the fact that some people still question India's ability to host big events.

I think it starts on October 3rd.

Anyone check out the swimming? Took 10 minutes to clean the pool because the ceiling was falling off/a bird was dying in the pool.

This is turning out to be a bit of a disaster which is a real shame   Can't believe how many empty seats there are in the stadiums, and every day there seems to be more and more problems.

Yeah well, sports in India ( except cricket ) are somewhat in shambles. Personally, I always knew it wasn't going to be a success in terms of turnout.

Its a F***ing disgrace, but atleast they've managed to put it up and pull the event. ( thank god for that   )
The boxing match featuring India still had some spectators though.

As for the Cricket match, I guess the 5th day turnout was decent, from whatever I saw. Its a 5-day match afterall, never gonna be full-house.

That semifinal game against England was more than its money value. Electrifying.

Glad we managed to pull it through in the end, but gutted and well, slightly embarrassed that we left it to the last minute.

In the end, it turned out to be pretty decent tournament I think. Wasn't supposed to be Olympics standards anyway.

But I was just going through this article in 'The Australian' and couldn't help but laugh and be bemused at the negative comments.
Really, some of these papers just need to see the positive side too sometimes.
 
Cheap and uncalled for comments don't help either.

Forget the run-up to the games. The main event was good, and that is what matters in the end, and India lived upto it.

It actually wasn't that bad. The other night, I wasn't being allowed to go to sleep because there were interesting events coming up - the India-England hockey game, the 4x400 track events and the Javelin and Women's pole vault.

Plus, Australia slaughtered the rest of the pack.

Think its about 20-25 odd in swimming - still more golds in other events than your gold total

Really enjoyed watching the Netball this morning between New Zealand and the Aussies

Aussies and NZ netball is always a good fight. Pipped to the gold, but no pride lost. Wish i coulda watched it!

They were saying that the girls are household names in Aus and NZ, it was a cracking game, and as I used to play a lot of Netball myself, I appreciated how good it really was.

Oh yeah, Netball has a pretty good following in both countries. My mum and sister both played, and had a girlfriend that played, so i appreciate the sport. Even had a go in PE once in highschool, and its fun. The whole not moving thing when you get the ball takes a lot of getting used to!

Didn't look to good in the skirt though. Should have thought that through better.

News coming in of vandalism by some Australian athletes.

Apparently, some Aussie athletes were watching the India-Australia test match. Following Australia's loss, they got all loopy and started destroying furniture and electrical appliances. It seems they threw the washing machine and all from the 8th floor.

Talk about sore losers.

We owned the Poms (as usual).

Ya every nation as miles behind Australia in terms of medals.

Pretty content with our performance though, hadn't expected as many medals. Been our best to date, I think.

Boxing and shooting doing us good, was disappointed in Tennis though. Could've got 3 golds there.

Agreed with the little netball discussion above. Loved playing it in high school, lovely to watch as well.

Netball was the highlight. I love watching us play the Kiwis and really appreciate the battle. Was an epic match too.

The diving was disappointing with Mitcham getting 4 silvers from 4 events. Poor guy. Just fluffed it on his last dive in the 10m but that young English lad was brilliant.

The hockey was again too easy for the men, and a great win for the women.

Not much other highlights because we won so easily.
