Emile Heskey snubs Fabio Capello's offer of England returnEmile Heskey has rejected a plea from Fabio Capello to come out of international retirement and help ease England's striker crisis.
Jermain Defoe, Bobby Zamora and Gabriel Agbonlahor have been ruled out of the Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro on October 12th, while Wayne Rooney has been troubled by an ankle problem.
The injury worries prompted Capello to turn to Heskey, despite the much-maligned Aston Villa striker having quit international football after England's World Cup flop.
Capello said: 'I saw Heskey against Wolves [last weekend] and he played very well and he is in a good moment.'
He added: 'We need him. He is in good form, we were talking about him for the one game against Montenegro.'.The 32-year-old's impressive form continued when he created Villa's goal in Saturday's 2-1 loss at Spurs, but he has opted against accepting an offer to add to his 62 international caps.
Capello's problems have been eased by the news that Rooney should be available to face Montenegro, despite missing Manchester United's goalless draw at Sunderland on Saturday.
Darren Bent and Peter Crouch are likely to join Rooney in the squad, while press reports suggest Newcastle United youngster Andy Carroll will receive a first call-up to the senior squad.
