Does Roy automatically get the Manager of the Month/Year award? Or can votes go to ex-Reds managers who are now doing a bang-up job elsewhere (Rafa, Houllier), or even those we didn't go with in the summer?....  ;-)

We do already have a forum player of the year vote.

Reina won last year. But good idea to make it more official.

Great idea and as others have said, the core system is already in place

      BUT

my only concern is that the current voting system is open to all members and not just registered ones. This mean that Mancs and Bitters could pop in once a week to skew the voting and it would be a little embarrassing when we have to hand the trophy to Poulsen!

I suppose rather than changing the system during the season to paying members only, we could just leave it as it is then at the end of the season, take the top 5 or 6 players and let the paying members vote which of those should win. That should eliminate any WUM nominations.

Love this idea. I always wonder whether the .tv votes is a fair. I think some people just usually vote for their favourite players and have no diea who has been playing well. At least on here we know that the majority of people have a good idea of how each player is palying.

.tv is a bunch of BS IMO. Ever been on their forum? Absolute sh*t :D

We do have awards yeah, stuff like best new poster, best post of the year, best football poster etc. We have most likely to be banned award, so i guess that comes under the WUM bit? :D

      Not true.

Guests can't vote. Neither can new members with low post counts.

Can you really imagine Liverpool Football Club opening their doors to some random fella/girl saying they're here to present the player of the month award to whoever it is off LFCReds.com. Seriously, they'd tell you to F**k off.

Because if they allow ours, then they're gonna have to allow every site that wants to do it. And once word gets round that we're doing it, every other site will start doing it. They don't even like fans at Melwood to watch the training.

Plus, whether we want to admit it or not, most of our players would only do an interview for the site if they were getting money for it - usually on the orders of their agent. Or they'd have a more important game on golf course waiting.

It's one of those ideas that seem great in theory but in my opinion wouldn't get off the ground.

Do they really frown upon us going to Melwood? that sucks ass - they should want that, I have heard that Real get about 3000 fans to their sessions! I also heard they charge entrance for this - yes its a media scrum sometimes, but still...

With regards to the players not doing an interview - surely the local boys would? If not lets start by highlighting the youth players, ressies? If we ran an award for them it would highlight these guys, create more of a profile for the players and blood them with the press?! Would that work?

You could simply make it open to people with a specific amount of posts.  If you think about it a Man U supporter wouldnt continually have hundreds of posts. You could set it up so members with 300 or 500+ posts.  You might have a few who try and mess it up but 99% of the votes would still be Liverpool supporters.

But if were the originators and the first to do it, it will add credence to the actual award.  Plus if were the first, then they dont have to accept it from other sites. They would then say.. "another site has an award" etc...Maybe they accept maybe not, but what if we dont do it and another site does it and it becomes one of those internet originals.  Who knows if its going to work or if LFC accept it, but it doesnt hurt to try.

Their must be someone on this site who has a connection to someone at the club. If not then I'll contact them and make a pitch to them. If the forum supports it, I'll buy the plaque and get it engraved. Whats the worst that can happen? What are they going to do?  They will say yes or no. Especially now with new owners who more than likely want to make a good impression for the supporters, who in all honesty are probably looking to mend fences with the supporter base who had to deal with the sh*t of the past 12 months.

I know in years gone by, fans were allowed at Melwood because me cousin Dawn used to go down there because she fancied the kecks off Redknapp. We always used to get her to get some of our stuff off some of the other players - got Fowler/Ruddock/Rush signatures because of it. So that's how far back we're talking, but now I'm sure that fans aren't allowed into Melwood while training is on going.

I think the youth level could work more than the first team. And it would boost the profile of the said youngster. Maybe that's where to start.

But if were the originators and the first to do it, it will add credence to the actual award.  Plus if were the first, then they dont have to accept it from other sites. They would then say.. Fair enough, it doesn't hurt to try. And if we're really that keen to get the project up and running we do what Andy does in The Shawshank Redemption and write a letter a week until they accept. And again fair enough, the club can only say yes or no. Sure it's worth a go and I'll happily support the idea but in my heart of hearts I don't think it'll get off the ground.

Not because it's a bad idea, because it isn't. It's in fact a pretty good idea. But I have my reservations because of how Liverpool Football Club treats it's fans. Maybe with new owners it'll be different but I doubt it.

We do already have a forum player of the year vote.

      Reina won last year.

Thank you JD - I thought I was going off my champ for a while. I was sure that I'd voted for Reina and (before him) Alonso.
