      Didn’t FSG get Klopp  :f_tongueincheek:

And also it’s their man who is doing the transfer negotiations that we are all impressed with

Can’t deny their involvement in the upsurge of the club over the last couple of years , they have backed their manager with a lot of money , got him the players he wants , they are still the people signing the cheques and it’s still their money that is being spent regardless of where it has come from.

I do believe when they took the club on they said it would be self sufficient and believed success can still happen - it’s getting there

Once again FSG have not backed Klopp with loads of THEIR money.
It was money generated from player sales, CL prize money, TV rights etc etc.

LFC has always had the potential to realise success on the scale we are now witnessing, the key is having a manager capable of harnessing that potential. FSG bolloxed up managerial appointments prior to Klopp but our saviour is now in place and as posted he has pulled FSG right out of the sh*t.

I’m confused - if it’s not their money being spent whose is it ? They own the club so any money made is theirs to do as they wish. And they are using that money to back the manager as they have done throughout their whole reign.

Klopp was always their first choice as manager and went for him before Rodgers so do they not get credit for that ? By giving all the credit to one person is quite insulting to whole host of people who have worked in the background both on and off the pitch.

At the end of the day they own the club , since they owned the club it has massively improved both on and off the pitch compared to where we were going without a lack of investment and under H and G. They own the club lock stock and barrel , they bring in staff to get the job done both on the pitch and financially off the pitch. For decades we have been crying out for improvements on the stadium - done that , been desperate to attract the best players - doing that.

A club doesn’t work or survive with poor owners , Klopp has done brilliantly but the owners have also been a part putting the club back to where we should be

As posted the money is not technically FSG sourced, it is generated on the back of the asset that is FSG.
If our previous custodians had not been out and out fraudsters they could have implemented the same or a similar strategy to FSG and reaped the profits.

FSG have reaped the benefits and LFC is an asset in the true sense of the word, able to be self sufficient and pay it's way.
Of course FSG are our custodians but as JWH stated he would not use his own money to finance the club and he is sticking by his word.
LFC stands on it's own feet.

Sorry but a club doesn’t “stand on it’s own feet” - if that was true then why before FSG arrived weren’t we marketed to the same level that we are now and bringing in the same level as we are now.

Just going by the name just doesn’t work anymore- players don’t just join because of the name , investment doesn’t happen because of the name - people have to go out and grab it. It’s the whole picture - the sum of all parts.

LFC is self sufficient just like they said it would be but that money coming in doesn’t just get thrown at the club , plenty of it is earned. The overall value of the club has massively increased over the years from a club on its knee in debt with prob the worst team I have seen in decades.

They first put their trust in someone , lots of money was given but didn’t work out . Start again - again didn’t work out then Klopp arrives and it starts to work - Klopp doesn’t just turn up at Anfield - our owners have to get him into the club , they then have to back him with the players he wants. We don’t want a club to be held up by a rich owner digging into his pockets , look at the stadium we have now , look at the players and the excitement around the place - long time since it felt like that and the owners have to take their share of credit for it.

In fairness to them they have no doubt had plenty of chances to sell up and get a nice profit but they haven’t and at this moment in time I’m happy with them backing the manager , improving the stadium , improving the overall picture of the club - all the time without damaging both the reputation and also the financial status of the club.

What's all this stuff about "the owners did not baulk at the world record transfer fees"?
The owners didn't have to part with a cent!
The club's achievements paid the transfer fees.

The extended stadium and the other facilities you mention were accomplished in part by way of a loan to LFC from FSG and club finances.

The owners are shrewd businessmen however the burgeoning success of the club is solely down to JĂźrgen Klopp.

The point about record transfer fees is that if the owners were really only interested in making a profit on the club and couldn’t care less about success on the pitch (an opinion I’ve read in this thread), why would they bother backing their manager by spending more money than anyone else has done ever on a defender and a goalkeeper? In fact why bother appointing a winner like Klopp in the first place?

Don’t get me wrong, FSG are not the Abu Dhabi capital fund with a bottomless pit of money, they did not buy us just for the prestige of owning a football club - they saw a potentially good investment as well. Turning around the clubs fortunes commercially (which they’ve done) and hopefully improving results on the pitch gives them that return on investment, and if they sell having helped get us back on our perch who the F**k cares if they make a profit on the final sale?

You contradict yourself by saying the club doesn't stand on it's own feet yet you state later it is "self sufficient".
We all know why LFC were performing badly on the markets pre FSG, they could only improve on that state of affairs.

The remainder of your statements were dealt with in the previous post.
To repeat JWH stated unequivocally that he would not use his own money supporting the club, it would finance itself.

I find it difficult to accept that Klopp was always a target for the owners in as much as their knowledge of the finer points of football management was shown to be lacking with previous disastrous appointments.

Apologies i meant the club doesnt just stand on its own using its name - there is a lot of work involved to ensure the club is successful both on and off the pitch - work that the owners have had a massive hand in.

I dont see the issue with Henry not putting his own money into the club ( well beyond buying it ) - the owners are showing that you dont need if the club is run smartly which again they are doing along with their staff.

If they were asset stripping , and selling off players and no money going back into the club and paying out "dividends" to people etc then it would be fair to point fingers at them - but its really hard to see why some one would be so critical of them at this moment in time when the club is prob at its strongest for a very long time now especially off the field which has been a struggle for a very long time.

Yep they had issues with appointments early doors - they trusted people maybe they shouldnt have but then they wouldnt be the first owners to appoint the wrong people - but at least they appear to have learned from mistakes and keep looking to move the club forward - maybe its time to start looking forward as opposed to looking at past mistakes ( at least theirs didnt nearly ruin the club )

In fact why bother appointing a winner like Klopp in the first place?

The situation regarding the 'keeper and our defense was woeful and a failure to address the issue over some years meant drastic action was required, the genius of Klopp and the wedge from the Coutinho deal meant the shortcomings could indeed be addressed.
Do you think JĂźrgen Klopp would have joined an outfit without the tradition and status that LFC holds dear?
He became available, somebody had a word and the rest is history.
I believe the fact that Klopp had assembled a winning side previously using his unmatched judgement and genius in selecting and nurturing players on a budget was the main reason he was appointed.

As stated the 'keeper and defensive issues had not been addressed for many a season and urgent decisions were called for with the associated exorbitant fees.

They are here purely to return a confirmed asset to that status once again, as you say the club and the owners are bound to benefit.

I always find it amusing how the old guard of LFC fans cling to an imaginative narrative that Liverpool has always remained the center of the Futball universe while selectively ignoring:

-the team resides in a 2nd class city
-the team was/is not funded by Arab/Russian hobbiest billionaires
      -the team neared financial crisis
-elite players desire cosmopolitan based teams (London, Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid)
      -elite players want CL certainty
-elite S. American players want to play in Spain
      etc etc etc.

Pretending FSG was going to take over and instantly attract the best on the field and in the coach's box is simply delusional....but have at it if that's what tickles your box

Regarding the incessant blather that FSG relies on sales in order buy ignores the truth that:

-elite players hold power over teams
-contracts don't necessarily bind player to team
-LFC's recent major sales all demanded out
-LFC fought off departure requests until players chose disruptive tactics
-the biggest teams in the world all finance purchases with sales
      -player valuations often exceed performance

Besides this.....yeah .....LFC's sales have bought players that carried them to the CL final last year, CL play this year, and a 3-0 start now.
      "FSG is just the worst"
Slog away.....or admit FSG has turned the tide

Insulting isn't it especially given how the likes of Geoffrey Howe and Margaret Thatcher plundered that line for legitimising the city's decline and deprivation in the 80s.

Just one thing missing now and we all know that’s close now

One reason the club didn't go full out marketing was down to David Moores & Rick Parry, still wanting to keep the community feel to the club, that we are a football club, not a brand. Unlike the mancs who were selling any old tat with their badge on. In fact you only have to look at their badge to realise they no longer have the words "football club" on their badge.

Players don't always sign because of the name, they sign because of the manager too, hence why under Rafa we were able to get the likes of Torres, Alonso, Reina, Mascherano, Garcia etc and could of bought Dani Alves, Sergio Aguero, David Silva had the various board members at the time backed him.

Besides this.....yeah .....LFC's sales have bought players that carried them to the CL final last year, CL play this year, and a 3-0 start now.

I'll admit Liverpool is no second class city but a city that attracts record numbers of foreign tourists year on year and has a history and tradition others envy.

Obviously you have never been to Liverpool.

Klopp has been our saviour and prevented the natives rebelling with the F**k ups perpetrated by our owners prior to his arrival, it is hoped he can be kept on board in spite of JWH&Co's.

Where the F**k does this 'Futball' come from you insist on referring to?

F**k you. Second class city my arse.
It is what is......a smallish city on the rebound. Cute little regional airport that hosts ...........7 regional carriers. Impressive :)

      Your loyalty is admirable
      Don't take it personal.
I suspect people outside of Liverpool proper aren't ranking Liverpool in the same column as London, Paris, Rome. etc either.

PS....Stonehenge attracts record levels of tourists. First class then?

The three of which have clubs that account for the sum total of...1 European Cup between them. How many cups reside in Liverpool? Yeah exfuckingactly. Your point means sweet f**k all and before you start flying such tags around like '2nd class city' maybe you should do a little bit of research regarding what such a term meant in the 80s. Ignorant at best. Insensitive and crass at worst.

You can slog away till you F***ing drop with that pile of sh*t.
It is pure rhetoric and bears no resemblance to actualities, the only reaction you will get is abuse and wind people up - maybe that is your intention.
