Not sure itā€™s greed when that money from those kits goes into the club to help get the players we laud each weekend

Itā€™s one of the necessary evils - we donā€™t like it but the commercial side of the sport is massive and itā€™s taken us decades to get on par with other teams.

It's F***ing greed! It's not just our club btw, sports manufacturers are just as bad eg those performance shirts nike put out for about Ā£90.

Get those spice girls back together to perform in front of those naughty capitalists.

It's actually the most entertaining ongoing thread on this board. The amount of stupidity that gets thrown around is hilarious.

The sh*te you throw about in other threads is just as embarrassing, so I wouldn't start getting cocky yet softlad!!

And the trademark request was only aimed at any use of the word Liverpool associated with the club

Since Iā€™m not a copyright/trademark/trade name/fair use expert, and donā€™t really understand the whole trademark thing, perhaps we can protect fans even more by considering more trademarks?

So if we hear ā€œyouā€™ll never score a goalā€ to the tune of ā€œyouā€™ll never walk aloneā€, it should give us the right to sue the club and their fans singing that, correct? As Iā€™m not an expert, but only a fan, this is what truly protecting us fans means to me. If so, go ahead and trademark every damn thing right down to the Arkles and Sandon.

So being greedy cu*ts then. Maybe if footy kits weren't so expensive there wouldn't be so much blag merch around.

As it is half the blag merch on sale around the ground is better than the sh*te the club shop sells.

Would be kinda ironically funny if the trading standards lot come after the bootleg shirt lot now.Sort of glad i didn't rejoin SOS after this performance, shame really.

Few of the radio shouting heads are having a bark at Henry and the Red sox at the moment, cos they're rumored to cut wages to get under the luxury tax, maybe get rid of best player and put prices up next year.

The previous GM (Dombrowski) fu**ed the Red Sox hard with bad contracts. They have 79M already committed on 3 starting pitchers, none of them who are anywhere near the best in baseball (Sale used to be but he's got arm problems).

They've had the highest payroll 2 years in a row going over the "competitive balance threshold" and per the article i read it said exceeding it a 3rd year in a row would increase their taxes "astronomically", though no mention of how much. Going under the threshold for 1 year resets the clock, as i understand it. That's what the Yankees did fairly recently.

Betts, their best player, has already declined approaches by the Red Sox on an extension and has openly said it's a business, so he's definitely going into free agency and going to the highest bidder. Even though he only has 1 year left on his deal, they can probably get a pretty good deal for him this winter.

Should be an interesting offseason for them. Staying over the threshold and paying a huge tax because of it doesn't make a lot of sense when they won't be all that good with having so much money tied up on 3 average pitchers.

Then you're a bit sad really, considering SOS have done a great F***ing great job working with other fan groups to get away tickets reduced to just Ā£30 and currently doing the same for European games.

Such a shame the club's own t-shirt designs are that sh*t they have to copy the designs of the stuff like hsoab & love & conquer!!

      Well said

And on the subject of the official club merch it's the naffest gear I've ever seen. Went into the L1 store to get some flags for my balcony before the final last year and they had one small flag (no pole) for about Ā£15. Didn't even have a crest on it & just had "ALLEZ ALLEZ ALLEZ" sprawled over it in some snide font. Went to one of the local traders instead & spent about Ā£40 for 4 or 5 different massive flags. Much better!

You could see that was their plan all along. I think they identified the potential of the Premier League and thought all they needed to do was sit tight for a decade or so and watch the value rise. Even if we disappeared into mid-table mediocrity the club would have still been worth much more than the Ā£200m they bought it for - to put it into perspective Mike Ashely has been holding out for nearly double that for Newcastle!

If they managed 10 years or so of drawing their dividends with minimal investment & then finally sold us they would have made a disgusting amount of profit. Thank god for S.O.S!

Liverpool John Lennon Airport: Private plane overshoots runway

Hundreds of passengers travelling from Liverpool John Lennon Airport face disruption

Flights have been cancelled after a private plane came off the runway at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

The airport is expected to be closed until 17:00 GMT and an inquiry has been launched into what happened when the plane landed at about 06:00.

Four people were on board the plane but no-one was hurt, a spokesman for the airport has confirmed.

A source at Liverpool Football Club confirmed the private jet was carrying one of the club's owners, Mike Gordon.

Mr Gordon, who is the president of Fenway Sports Group, was on a flight from Bedford, Massachusetts to Liverpool to attend a regular meeting at the club.

"He was not injured but would like to pass on his appreciation to the staff at Liverpool John Lennon Airport and the emergency services for their amazing work," the source said.

Mike Gordon (right) pictured with Liverpool manager JĆ¼rgen Klopp in June 2019

A spokeswoman for VistaJet added: "We are fully co-operating with the airport and relevant authorities as they investigate further."

A specialist removal team is on site and will use cranes and airbags to remove the plane from the grass.

The plane could not be removed until officials from the Air Accident Investigation Board deem it safe to do so, the BBC understands.

Passengers due to fly this morning have been advised to contact their airlines for further information.

Some travellers reported four-hour delays while others have had their flights diverted to Manchester Airport.

Eric Henderson, from Preston, was due to travel to Amsterdam for work.

"Our flight was due to leave at 07:30. We noticed at ten to that the flight had been moved to 11:40," he said.

"There was no explanation until we looked out of the large windows on the concourse and saw all the blue flashing lights."

The private plane came off the runway shortly after landing at about 06:00 BST

Merrick Nind, from Preston, has also had his flight cancelled. He was due to leave at 7:30.

"We are going to have spent most of the day in an airport which is a bit of a bummer, but these things happen."

Latest updates on Liverpool John Lennon Airport closure

Steven and Kerry Grounds, from Warrington, were due to fly out to Amsterdam to celebrate Kerry's 40th birthday.

"I don't think we will be going anywhere, so we've going back home," she said.

Three crew and one passenger were on board the plane when it came off the runway after landing.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and can assure customers we are doing all we can to resume services as quickly as possible," an airport spokesman said.

Flights arriving from Salzburg, where Liverpool FC played on Tuesday night, the Isle of Man and Dublin have been diverted to Manchester, while planes from Belfast and Amsterdam were cancelled.

Liverpool FC flew back to the UK shortly after the match finished, the club has confirmed.

Passengers face delays at Liverpool John Lennon Airport

EasyJet has confirmed six flights have been cancelled and four flights have been re-routed to Manchester due to the runway closure.

"Customers on cancelled flights have been given the option of transferring their flight free of charge or receiving a refund," the spokesperson said.

      Who is Mike Gordon?

Mike Gordon was uninjured when his plane overshot the runway

Mike Gordon, whose plane left the runway as it landed at Liverpool Airport, is the president of Fenway Sports Group, the owners of Liverpool FC.

He is a director of the club and is one of three board members who own more than a 10% share, alongside principal owner John Henry and chairman Tom Werner.

He is also a director of the Boston Red Sox baseball club.

Mr Gordon lives in Massachusetts with his wife and four children.
