Was just thinking a while back that it'll soon be 10 years in charge for FSG.

We know they had some teething troubles when they first came in, they got some pretty big things wrong, but to be fair, acted quickly to correct them.
I'm thinking of Commoli at this point, who would eventually be sacked.
It also took time to get the club financially stable, and people shouldn't underestimate how difficult a task this can be.

After the departure of KK, we had Rodgers, a strangely up his own arse kind of chap, who nevertheless had some pretty solid idea's, and alomst took us to the title.
Ultimately though, we failed, and it became noticeable that the job was too big for him.

The turn around in efficiency in transfers, which had previously seemed laboured, coincided with Mike Gordon upping his FSG stake to 12% (2nd largest shareholder), and taking on sole responsibility for LFC while Henry concentrated on the Red Sox and other US holdings.
Between them, Gordon and Edwards would not only streamline our recruitment process, but also modernise it, utilising computer metrics to find players to fit.
They didn't want stars, they wanted to make them, and they soon started making a much bigger impact, with their masterstroke, the appointment of Jürgen Klopp.
We went from a bunch of people pulling in different directions, to a single unit all working together towards a common goal.

It was exactly what we needed.

Klopp assembled his squad, but also showed his willingness to listen to his recruitment team, most noticeably, about Salah.

In the meantime, the stadium was expanded, a new training ground planned, and now further expansion is in the works.

It finally brought the club up to date.

Sponsorship, while always decent, really started to pour in, and they made some canny deals.

2 CL finals, 1 win, and now it looks like we are going to win the one that matters most.

I'd say you can roughly split their tenure into 2 parts; the first where things were not quite right, then the second where things clicked into place.

10/10 since they brought Klopp in.

      6 or 7/10 before that.

They've done what they said they would.
It's taken a bit longer than many of us would like, but we're getting there.

Perhaps it's time to give them a bit more credit.

      Edit;
They have expanded their activity with some surprising purchases

Second half of the decade has been pretty brilliant. From the hiring of Klopp, the completion of the Main Stand, the signings, becoming a force in Europe once again, resulting in last year's Champions League win & hopefully bookmarking their first decade almost perfectly with a league title being won in the most exceptional way.

Done some good work off the field too, the £9 Local General sale they introduced upon completion of the Main Stand is brilliant and obviously the development of the Annie Rd end will help ease the crazy demand for tickets a lot more.

As far as owners go we've got pretty lucky. The fact that they seem to leave their egos at the door when it comes to putting right some of the mistakes they've made is a priceless quality and an almost polar opposite to what the Glazers seem to be doing down the road

When they first came in, I did a lot of work finding out everything I could about them, especially Henry, and it was immediately clear to me, that they were the exact opposite of the 2 vultures who came before them.
Henry made a very successful career out of taking long term assets, and building them up, before selling them, and was quite scathing about people like H&G who were the archetypal asset strippers.

However, it wasn't until Mike Gordon increased his stake that we really started to take off.
Obviously, he still reports to Henry, who is head of the group, but a 12% stake in FSG, pretty much gives Gordon control of LFC, and although information about him is hard to come by, it appears the LFC bug has bitten him, and I fully expect him to take over should Henry decide to sell.
Hopefully that's not for a good while yet, but assuming I'm correct, our stability would be assured long term, and by that I mean for the next 20 years at least.

Well that is a very pleasant scenario I had not thought about. I wonder if Gordon would fund that purchase with shares of the Red Sox, FSG, etc.

Regardless, their management of the club is increasingly a success story. I think people fail to recognize the important of financial viability before the team can be built into what it is now. They should especially grasp this though in light of what is going on with Man City. Owners cannot just dump, dump, dump their own money in, even if they feel like it. They have to build an economically viable (for the 21st century) institution and that is what FSG have done. Of course they couldn't have done it without all the tangibles and intangibles of such a special club culture, history and host community, but we've seen  that even having that doesn't make success an automatic.

The club is in good hands.

It's hard to find reliable information about Gordon.
He keeps very much out of the limelight, and doesn't even have a wiki page. I find this very refreshing.
His 12% share of FSG is probably close to $1 billion.
He's an Asset Manager, and by all accounts, a very good one so he's not poor, and considering his wealth will increase year on year, I'd say it's a good bet he will eventually take sole control of us, with maybe a silent partner in the background.
He's currently the 2nd largest shareholder in FSG, with Henry owning 40%, and all others 10% or less.

He's done a cracking job since he upped his stake.

No, Actually Billy Hogan (our sales director) who worked with NESV and the Red Sox was a big LFC fan and convinced JH/TW to go and look into the club when RBS came in and talk of points totals; they didn't even know who MB was until they got serious.

All kinds of articles like this are out there if you made the effort to learn the history and stop talking garbage of the top of your head.

Wasn't Billy Hogan it was someone else who is no longer involved with FSG and moved to the Texas baseball team. It was believed to be a bit of PR story in all honesty.

End of the day there was a piece in one of the tabloids over the weekend stating Broughton, Purslow and the other scouse fella who loved his bikes (I've forgotten his name!) met with someone else interested in buying us who literally would of put us through a firesale type scenario.

Broughton was working on behalf of RBS no one else.

Either way knob head thinking that MB brought NESV to the table and was anything more than an RBS caretaker to whoever brought the club is typical of the quality of his posts or his knowledge.

The Roush Fenway racing team had its top driver tonight in a terrible-looking  accident at the end of a prominent American race in Florida - The Daytona 500. People were waiting for word about Ryan Newman who was involved in about as bad an accident as I've ever seen for "stock" cars. Statement came out a couple of hours later that injuries were serious but non life threatening. If you see the video of the crash you'll know how lucky the guy is.

So on the video the club has put out about Kirkby expansion and redevelopment: seems like they were going for artistic in the vid, but it left me wondering what was what most of the time. I see they've laid three new pitches and will be seeding them in the spring. I see the big new building but it's hard for me to tell what the rest of the ground is going to include (and where). Are there any good diagrams that lay it all out, so I can look at the overhead and know better what I'm looking at?

The building really does look massive, especially compared to the existing one. I am interested to see how the training pitches will be allocated among the various teams.
