The only way FSG are buying the Celtics is if they sell us.

No longer in running to purchase Bordeaux

Given France's newly elected NPF is intent on assessing a new 90% tax on any annual income above €400,000 (£337,954), one can only wonder how French teams will attract/retain quality players going forward.
In a statement just released by Bordeaux, "the general economic context of French football" is a significant cause for concern.

Not sure it's the proposed tax - wealthy people usually find clever ways of avoiding tax - although political instability in general won't have helped. Stadium costs/concerns over new TV rights deal cited as reasons.

      Quite right.

If the tax laws are 80% like I've seen reported why would they want to get involved in France. L o l

Think if this is implemented, there'll be a few off shore accounts being opened up, or maybe Saudi accounts.

Not really, the French FA can just get another load of talented African kids in and turn then into superstars.

      Mountain of debt.
French teams trying to keep pace with PSG is impossible.

They’ve lost their professional status and all their player contracts are terminated.

I feel like FSG didn't have anything to do with this transfer. They are too busy worried about how they are going to pay for the Boston Celtics.

      Yep.

Some people literally think JW and Tom Werner are actively involved in transfers.

They really aren't hands on like that

I don’t think you can finger point FSG. They were willing to bank roll the enormous bid for Caicedo last summer which would have smashed the British record. It’s up to Edwards, Hughes, Ward etc to sort out transfers and players approaching contract years.if the fingers needs pointing it should be in their direction.

Could, should, would; but in reality they didn't shell out anything, a bit like the winter window, and this one so far.
All we've done this summer is trim the wage bill. Klopp, Thiago, and Matip off the books; that's at least a million a week freed up to sit nicely next to last years imaginary "war chest". Last years most most watched premier league club, with largest global social media following, and no doubt record revenues, all following a season without champions league football.
Its commendable that we've managed to compete with this self-sustaining model for the last 5 years, but lets not forget the fact they are actually stingebags that are just looking to milk everything they can from their investment that has already increased tenfold within the last decade.
I don't think its out of the question for a top four team to have a $50M spend a season to improve the squad, something we continually fail to do.
