Fowlers sense of humour in the sun (Australia, not the rag)

Liverpool legend makes tongue-in-cheek Perth claim
      .

Former Liverpool and England striker Robbie Fowler has light-heartedly claimed that Wayne Rooney is thinking over the possibility of joining him at Perth Glory.

Rooney has confirmed that he wants to leave Manchester United after questioning the club's ambition and as a result he has been linked with Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

But Fowler has revealed that he recently chatted with ex-Everton star Rooney and, with tongue-in-cheek, he thinks that the England striker could be tempted by a move to Australia.

Fowler said on the Glory's official website: "Everyone knows I went home (and) it's probably only just come out lately about Wayne Rooney, but being in the football know, I found out a couple of weeks ago (that he wanted to leave Manchester United).

"I just had to come home and see if he'd be interested in coming to Perth.

"The signs were good. I was really pleased with the chat we had and we'll see where it takes us.

      Umming and ahhing

"I sold it to him and told him what a lovely place it is.

"I told him what I think about the city and he knows obviously all about a lot of the players.

"He's umming and ahhing at the minute, but it's looking good. He's very, very interested so watch this space."

Perth's deputy chairman, Lui Giuliani, said the idea was not as laughable as some may think.

"Well if, and it's a big 'If', Wayne Rooney was out of contract, and Robbie Fowler could pull some strings we would love to have him at Perth Glory even as a guest," he said.

"If I said four years ago that Robbie Fowler would be playing for Perth Glory, I'm sure many people would have had a laugh."

Fun in the sun for Robbie.

I'd Welcome Rooney, with a spade, then send him over to Stanley Park, the c**t is built for digging.

Reminds me of a 'game' we used to play in the pub before the match kicked off. Doesn't sound too funny but alcohol and the author make it so.

It's basically name the profession if they weren't a Footy player.

I always had Rooney as a nailed on Labourer, in the style of Frank Spencer. PensionPimp, Fry station Manager at McDonalds. You get the idea.

Apparently Man City are favourites to sign Rooney as they have promised him 230 Grans a week.

;) I hope he gets a lot worse. SSN will be hanging around their training ground like a bad smell for months. Queue video of Ferdinand laying Rooney out. Does this mean the Mancs will return to exclusive Scouse hating again? Good.

The only way I'd welcome Rooney to join us, is if he exploited the rules and left United for about £5million, would demoralise them losing him to us and him forcing the move through in that nature.

no way he has scored 1 goal re penalty is asking for 250000 pound a week. i sincerly believe its all downhill from here for wayne rooney. and think his career will start unravelling. he is not an intellectual by any means. and his decision is ego based and not well thought out. think his agent is using him to make monster bucks out of his move. only the spanish clubs can afford his wage demands he would not be a good fit abroad his ability to learn a foriegn language is questioned.

I thought he couldn't do that till the summer though?

If we could, pay the £5m, play him till summer and then sell him for £50m. Sweet as.

Having said that I still think he's Citeh bound and way too mercenary for a Red shirt.

      Love this from stephenmc:

Roy Hodgson overheard by fans outside Anfield last evening 'Wayne is coming'. He was right. 5 minutes later it started bucketing down.

Just to see the reaction he would get going back to Old Trafford.
Also Fergies trembling face getting redder and redder.

Anyone else think Manure was jealous of them not being in the headlines for a week, and this is total rubbish?

      No, I wouldn't welcome him.
