Yep! Kicks off tomorrow on Sky Sports from 10pm doesn't it?
Looking forward to a few late nights and sleeping in for work.... ;D

Think I'll go for Argentina to win it. Mainly due to our Mascherano taking part.
Wonder who'll win Group A? I'll go for Uruguay.

Yeah! See, it's not all that bad this summer is it Smigger! I'm gonna try go the Wrexham game.

As for The Copa America , Peru walloped Uruguay 3-0 last night!  :o Thought Uruguay would have done a little better there like.

      Sky Sports:

Goals from defender Miguel Villata, substitute Juan Marino and Jose Guerrero gave Julio Cesar Uribe's side the perfect start to their Group A campaign at the Metropolitano Stadium in Merida.

"These players are starting to change the course of Peruvian soccer," Uribe told AFP.

"We have won an important game but there is still plenty of work to do. I am convinced that my team can play a lot better."

Peru dominated from the first whistle with Chelsea's new signing Claudio Pizarro pulling the strings.

Villata opened the scoring after 27 minutes when he powerfully met a Pizarro corner.

Uruguay should have levelled in the 66th minute but substitute striker Diego Rodriguez fluffed a golden chance.

And Marino made them pay when he doubled Peru's lead after 70 minutes when he latched on to a ball from PSV Eindhoven's Jefferson Farfan and curled it beyond Fabian Carini in the Uruguay goal.

Guerrero then rubbed salt into the wounds when he added a third two minutes from time.

      Venezuela 2 Bolivia 2

Giancarlo Maldonado and Ricardo Paez scored either side of the break as hosts Venezuela drew 2-2 with Bolivia in their opening match of the Copa America.

Venezuela, who were bidding for their first tournament victory since 1967, opened the scoring after 21 minutes when Maldonado struck a beautiful left-foot shot beyond Sergio Galarza in the Bolivia goal.

But the partisan 42,000 home crowd at the Pueblo Nuevo stadium were silenced when Bolivia levelled as Jaime Moreno's shot deflected off Gabriel Cichero into his own net.

Paez restored the home side's lead in the 62nd minute with a neat finish for his seventh international goal.

But Bolivian playmaker Juan Carlos Arce scored the equaliser with his outstretched foot with seven minutes remaining.

"I'm happy with our defence and the way the team reacted," Bolivia coach Erwin Sanchez told the Associated Press.

But his opposite number Richard Paez was far from happy with Venezuela's display.

"The team wasn't at its best, only two or three players played to their potential," he explained.

Venezuela, who have never reached the second stage of the tournament, take on Peru in their second Group A match of the tournament in San Cristobal on Saturday.

See Benitez scored for Ecuador didn't he.

Gonzalez has had a poor first half so far. Are we surprised?

      Argentina and Mexico reach semis

       QUARTER-FINAL: ARGENTINA 4-0 PERU

Argentina earned a last-four contest with Mexico courtesy of a four-goal second-half salvo in Barquisimeto.

A frustrating first half was soon forgotten as Juan Roman Riquelme linked up well with substitute Carlos Tevez and slammed a left-foot shot past goalkeeper Leao Butron after 47 minutes.

Tevez had been brought on for the ineffective Diego Milito and he headed against the crossbar as Argentina ran riot.

The second goal soon came, Riquelme turning provider to play in Lionel Messi and the Barcelona man coolly slotting between the legs of Butron to double the lead.

Liverpool's Javier Mascherano made the game safe, tapping in after more brilliant inter-play between Messi and Tevez.

Riquelme added gloss to the score five minutes from the end after Tevez beat his man and played him in and he finished with aplomb for his fourth goal of the tournament.

      #
      Argentina coach Alfio Basile:
"We played with lots of patience, moving the ball all over the field. Then in the second half, they paid dearly for all the running around and pressuring."

      QUARTER-FINAL: MEXICO 6-0 PARAGUAY

Mexico booked their place in the Copa America semi-finals after a comprehensive victory over 10-man Paraguay.

Paraguay had goalkeeper Aldo Bobadilla sent off after only five minutes for fouling Olympiakos striker Nery Castillo in the area and they never recovered.

Castillo, 23, stepped up to convert the penalty and Gerardo Torrado made it 2-0 on 27 minutes when he beat the offside trap to slot home.

Castillo then struck again six minutes before the break to top the Copa America scoring charts with four goals.

Mexico continued to dominate after the break but they had to wait until the 79th minute for the fourth goal, which came courtesy of a fine lob from Fernando Arce Ruiz.

Cuauhtemoc Blanco converted Mexico's second penalty before another late substitute, Omar Bravo, completed the rout with a header in injury time.

The result is Mexico's best in the competition.

      #
      Mexico coach Hugo Sanchez:
"Getting to the semi-finals is difficult in a continent to which we don't belong. But now that we're facing the best team, Argentina, we need to continue improving."

      Next fixtures (Kick-off times BST):

      Wednesday 11 July - Semi-finals
      Uruguay v Brazil (0150)

Anyone watching the final? Brazil are beating Argentina 1-0 at the moment. Julio Baptista 4 mins.

3-0 to Brazil now! 2nd was an Ayala own goal near the end of the first half and then Alves has just scored.

Brazil are the Copa America champions 2007.

Once Argentina went two nil down by an own goal, it knocked the stuffing out of them. Didn't recover. Quite surprised really because Argentina had a little more experience in their team. But through most of the second half they looked quite desperate and Brazil just lapped it up. Not a bad game, but you could see how it was going to pan out....

So now that's over, what are we gonna be hearing on the Heinze situation I wonder.....
