You're probably right, I just think we need someone to replace Masch, we're kinda lacking of that type of midfielder.

Diarra would be nice but i,d go for Benaga. Turan or Ashley Young, prefer Turan. Eden Hazard. Lopez or Cardozo.
Get shot of Maxi, Poulson and Babel. Either recall Aquilani in january or just cash in. Wait untill the summer to get a quality left back and possible another centre back and we,ll do ok.

We are... but to be honest, I think Mascherano actually held us back.  He was vital and immense against Arsenal, United, Chelsea etc, don't get me wrong, I loved him and he was amazing for us against the big teams who pose an attacking threat, but he was totally pointless against the likes of Stoke.  He offered us nothing going forward, his passing was fine but hardly incisive or defence-splitting and it is not like we had particularly adventurous full-backs who were bombing forward all the time that required him to fill in on the flanks.  We need a good, strong, solid, tackling DM who we can rotate, leaving him on the bench to allow is to play more expansive attacking football against weaker teams - under a new manager obviously.

I believe the FIFA rule is, you can't play for more than 2 clubs in a 12 months time frame, though you can get dispensation occasionally.
