Nothing to do with them being champions and in the champions league at all

Or them being the worlds biggest clubs behind Madrid.

They've potentially signed De Gea, Young and Jones. Around 50 million in total.

Where did this 130k figure come from? Or is everyone clinging on to one quote and pinning it up as truth?

Don't want him if all he wants is a good wage, it is clear he cares more about money.

      Young agrees United terms
Villa forward to complete Old Trafford move after holiday

      By Rob Parrish
      Last Updated: June 10, 2011 2:52pm

Sky Sports sources understand Ashley Young has agreed personal terms ahead of his proposed move to Manchester United from Aston Villa.

The talented midfielder, who has also undergone a brief medical, is now expected to complete a switch to Old Trafford when he returns from holiday.

It emerged on Thursday that the Premier League champions had held discussions with Young's representatives over a possible switch to Old Trafford.

The England international admitted earlier this summer that he was keen to play at the very highest level, sparking speculation that he would leave Villa Park this summer.

United have been credited with a long-term interest in the former Watford player, while Liverpool were also understood to be monitoring the situation.

And Alex Ferguson now looks to have pipped the Reds to yet another transfer target, with Blackburn defender Phil Jones already on course to join the 19-times champions of England.

Ashley Young to the Mancs is pretty much confirmed by all reliable north-west football corespondents ... The numbers might be right or wrong, but he is basically their player ... Not that I am really bothered, to be honest ...

I've said before, of the 3 Villa wide players that have been discussed on this forum, Young, Downing & Albrighton, Young was the one I least wanted.

Ashley Young heads to Manchester United but Phil Jones deal stalls

      • Aston Villa player will sign after holiday break
      • Blackburn refuse to transfer Jones's registration

          Andy Hunter
          guardian.co.uk, Friday 10 June 2011 21.56 BST

Manchester United will officially sign Ashley Young when the Aston Villa forward returns from holiday later this month but their capture of Phil Jones from Blackburn Rovers has been delayed by a dispute over the defender's transfer fee.

Jones passed a medical and agreed personal terms with United on Wednesday after the Premier League champions met the £16m release clause in the contract Blackburn awarded the 19-year-old in February. He then joined the England Under-21 squad in Denmark in preparation for the European Championships convinced, along with United and his agent, that the deal had been done.

Blackburn's owners, Venky's, have since said they do not have to accept a £16m transfer fee and, mindful of interest from Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal, believe he is worth more. Venky's have refused to transfer the player's registration and it may fall to lawyers to decide whether the wording in Jones' contract allows him to be sold at £16m or merely speak to clubs who meet that price. United are said to have no concerns that Jones' transfer will be completed and for £16m.

Young is believed to have agreed personal terms on an initial £16m move to Old Trafford from Villa Park but the transfer will not be formally announced until he has completed a medical. The England international is due to travel to the United States on holiday and is not expected to have had his medical before then. But Young, who had also been courted by Liverpool and Tottenham, has agreed to join United and, with an £18m deal in place for the Atlético Madrid goalkeeper David de Gea, will take United's committed spending to £50m.

Very short sighted. If Man U go down the tubes then it will pretty much be the bursting of the bubble and no club will be safe.

Love LFC all you can but wishing bad on others is just poor Kharma in my view and should be avoided.

Christ-on-a-bike, people have such short memories. Less than a year ago we had two American wankers damn-near destroy us - how can you wish that on others?

Sure, like every club, even LFC, Manure have some wankers as fans, players etc. but, like it or not, they are a proper football club who have EARNED their success.

It is now up to Kenny and the boys to "knock them off their F***ing perch" as soon as possible but not because they fail financially but because we OUTPLAY them.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if the Mancs go into administration, get relegated to the League Two, and the Old Toilet is turned into a toxic waste dump ...

I wouldnt wish what we went through on anyone to be honest this is football and hicks and gillet took that away from us. I wish a lot on united but not administration because of the glazers.  However for the few united fans that were laughing at us id have a wee smile.

Hmmm there's alleged rumors about Young that I'm not willing to announce on this board, but he's said to have a lot in common with Mr Giggs and I don't mean plays on the wing.
